So I think the modul is the faulty part.
Did your car originally come with a digital hybrid or analogue? Mine originally came with a analogue, I have since returned this faulty one and plugged my analogue one back in and everything is working fine.

I don't know, beacuse it was a client's car, but I also upgraded the TV module to hybrid in my E39 (originally the car had analogue TV module), and it works fine.
So your symptom is not because of the upgrading, rather faulty hybrid module, the hybrid module is getting pretty hot while working (it has a built in colling fan), maybe after some years the parts inside cannot stand this heat. In an X5 there are no room by the TV module, so there are even more heat than in an E39 limo. Maybe your TV module is from an X5.
