Terrible service/broken MK4 bought from Bimmernav

Hey guys,

I ordered an MKIV from Bimmernav.com last week. The unit arrived and I instantly swapped it out, upgrading my 2002 X5 and replacing the MK3. After searching a bit for the maps DVD, I went to my local dealer and picked up the 2009 High Maps DVD for the MKIV.

When I inserted the DVD in the nav unit--I get an "error" message or a "no DVD" message. After researching this on this forum, it seems like this is an issue with a faulty laser in the MK4?

When I contacted Bimmernav about this problem, they promptly insisted that I was using the WRONG DVD over and over again until I was forced to actually call Navteq to prove that this DVD I had was in fact the correct one and should work perfectly in the 2006 MKIV computer they had sold me.

At this point--6 days after the purchase from Bimmernav--I requested my money back for the unit and told them I would send back the dead computer. They are refusing to refund me, saying that they are "moving offices." I am not sure how that is much of an excuse but whatever.

Have you guys had any problems with Bimmernav? Any advice for me? This is super frustrating and I cant believe I dropped almost $1k on a dead nav computer, only to get horrible service and an ignored refund policy after the fact.

Any advice or help regarding the navvy problem or the refund problem would be spectacular. THANKS!

Historically, Bimmernav has been fantastic-- one of the best. Martin, the guy who started Bimmernav, is the one who pretty much discovered many of the navigation and Bluetooth system upgrades we are all doing. However, Martin may have recently passed the business on to someone else. Martin sold all of his BMWs, and he is pursuing an unrelated business opportunity. It is likely that you are experiencing the new Bimmernav management.

Yeah, this persons name is Amy. I wish Martin could help me out. Now they are telling me to ship my broken unit to Lithuania and they will fix it? Frankly, I am thinking I will never see it again if I do that.....

Refute the credit card charge and start over.

MKIVs can be fixed at the official repair place in Wetzler Germany.

If you are using the correct DVD ( the HIGH and not the PROFESSIONAL) and you have no luck with Bimmernav, you may want to just drop the coin on a new laser unit. You can replace entire dvd unit or just laser. Unit is easier to replace but costs a bit more.

Gerner Electronics, Laser pickups, Flexboards, Beamerlampen, Messgeräte

They must have a huge office. I placed an order for an Intravee II on 10/5 and I haven't been able to get any forwarding info. They don't answer the phone and only communicate via e-mail. They are telling me that even though their web site said they had the unit in stock they had to get the unit shipped from Australia. I turned it over to my CC as fraud

I am unsure of the issue here as well. You sent a chargeback to your credit card as it was being shipped from another location than you thought. If you look at the order page it said that unit were being shipped form an international location.

Did you not receive what you ordered?

I am at a loss here. I contacted the shipping department at Bimmernav to inquire on this, and was given the following information. It appears your unit was delivered. See below... info removed to protect your privacy. I requested that they send a copy of the signature to confirm the delivery, and can post if needed

Label/Receipt Number: XXXXXXXXXXX
Service(s): Registered Mail™
Status: Delivered

Your item was delivered in xxxxxx, FL xxxxx.

This is really disappointing if Martin no longer runs the show at Bimmernav. I never ordered from him, but spoke over e-mail on nav and bluetooth topics several times and he was always willing to assist...
