Help ! (Title says it all.....)

Although, I don't own an X5, I do own an E38 (740iL) and am having problems with the NAV O/S Updates.

Here's the story:

First, I completed my virgin navigation retrofit into my 96' E38 using a complete MK1 system.

The system functioned flawlessly.

Next, I decided to upgrade to the latest O/S using a V26 disc (which installed 1/80 on the MK1)

Well, the interface looked much prettier, however, as soon as I turn off main roads, I get "correct dest. guidance not possible" displayed across the screen and the computer stops giving audible guidance prompts, ALTHOUGH the route to be traveled is clearly indicated on the screen.

I went to the local dealership and dropped all the way back to a V8 disc and the system started working perfectly again, so I left the O/S at V8 and all was well.

I've recently finished an MK1 to MK3 upgrade (soon to be MK4) and all was well again, however, I really like the split screen, so I upgraded to the latest O/S for the MK3 (which is 1/63) and the same problem happened again.

Streets that the system ONCE was able to give guidance on, magically are no longer "digitized", according the the system.

I need to know one of three things

1) How do I correct this rather annoying issue, since most of my traveling is back roads ?

2) Will the same thing happen on my MK4 when I install V26 ?

3) Does anyone have an O/S disc older than v.18 that I can use to restore my MK3 to an actual functioning status ?

Thanks !
