Hi, I hope someone here can help me. My installation comprises a 16:9 monitor, Mark IV DVD satnav, BMW hybrid TV tuner, BM54 radio tuner, BMW Bluetooth and Dension Gateway 300 iPod connection. On Saturday the audio part of my system stopped working completely; it returned briefly on Sunday morning, only to stop again a little later. Essentially, the screen to show the audio in use is completely blank and there is no sound from the radio, CD or iPod. The orange-lit on/off button works OK, but none of the other buttons are operative. The TV image works fine, but again there is no sound. However, the satnav continues to work 100% (including voice directions and TMC traffic information, so the second tuner seems OK), and the Bluetooth telephone functionality is also working normally.
At first I thought it might be due to the sudden drop in temperature on Saturday night to 2 degrees C (I’ve heard these units can be susceptible to the cold), but later yesterday it was 12 degrees, so it can’t be that. I have had the car four years and there has never been any dampness anywhere (even after a jet wash) and all the connectors appear secure. I have tried powering the system down fully and also disconnecting the battery, but no joy. Any suggestions of other things I can check myself much appreciated!
