Audio not working/satnav OK

Hi, I hope someone here can help me. My installation comprises a 16:9 monitor, Mark IV DVD satnav, BMW hybrid TV tuner, BM54 radio tuner, BMW Bluetooth and Dension Gateway 300 iPod connection. On Saturday the audio part of my system stopped working completely; it returned briefly on Sunday morning, only to stop again a little later. Essentially, the screen to show the audio in use is completely blank and there is no sound from the radio, CD or iPod. The orange-lit on/off button works OK, but none of the other buttons are operative. The TV image works fine, but again there is no sound. However, the satnav continues to work 100% (including voice directions and TMC traffic information, so the second tuner seems OK), and the Bluetooth telephone functionality is also working normally.
At first I thought it might be due to the sudden drop in temperature on Saturday night to 2 degrees C (Iíve heard these units can be susceptible to the cold), but later yesterday it was 12 degrees, so it canít be that. I have had the car four years and there has never been any dampness anywhere (even after a jet wash) and all the connectors appear secure. I have tried powering the system down fully and also disconnecting the battery, but no joy. Any suggestions of other things I can check myself much appreciated!
Thanks,
Julian.

You might want to check the signals at the radio module, as a start - http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/x5/...formation.html

Assume you have verified all fuses are good.

Another thought is to remove all components and start from scratch with only the radio module connected to see if you have sound. If so, then systematically add in components until you determine which one may be causing the issue.

sounds like a water damaged radio tuner.

Not an expert by any means however, like ucrewx5 said assuming you cheked the fuse. My radio went out for two days and i drove to the stealers and he just pulled the fuse with the vehicle off and put it back in. Everything works fine now.

Thanks, fuses are fine and there has never been any dampness around any of the components. Since the sound is fine through the satnav and Bluetooth I am confused. Looks like I will have to take it back to the specialist who fitted the upgrade two years ago.

Looks like it may just be a loose connection into the bottom of the radio tuner, as the audio comes and goes over bad bumps in the road. I've wedged a rolled up cloth under it to try and hold it in place for now, but I'll get the garage who fitted it to strip it out and check all the connections next time I'm there.
Julian.
