It's a bitter green vegetable, kind of a cross between broccoli and a leafy green. Good sauteed in olive oil and garlic, or made as a soup with chicken broth. Very healthy. Also can be made with pasta and sausage garlic and oil. :mmm:

Have you tried Vietnamese food? Very similar to Thai, but less heavy on the sauces, generally lighter ingredients, IMO.

Cuban food is one of my favs, of course I grew up on the stuff. I would think you could find some in SD.

Living in New England, I too love seafood, including lobster, shrimp, fish, etc. But I don't like it in the traditional "boil it 'till it's dead and drown it in butter" style. I'd much rather have that lobstah as a fra' diavolo....

Middle Eastern and Greek foods are gonna be among the healthiest out there- lots of it is grilled and not a lot of cream or butter, but plenty of olive oil and lean cuts of meat and seafood.

I know there's a market in SD that sells great middle eastern/mediterranean foods, Kearny Mesa I think.

If you like Broccoli rabe so much, why don't you use it as your avatar and since when culinary taste has to do with political affiliations:confused: ?
