The great thing about history is that history repeats itself. Whatever situation presents itself in the world today, you can bet that the same situation has presented itself before many many times. And you can learn a lot from the past. Being that your dad is a history professor, I'm sure you know that. ;)

I would like to write a couple of things:

- The terrorist attacks and the assassinations will continue on Iraq with or without US troops. I don’t know if the solution is to remove the US troops or not. But I do know that with the number of US soldiers on Iraq it’s impossible to control the territory.

What are the missions of US soldiers on Iraq:
Protect the population?
Protect Oil installations?
Protect borders?
Protect US investments?
Kill terrorists?
Prevent crime?

I don’t have an answer to those questions, but what I see on TV every day is that US soldiers are being killed in ambush and the population is being killed in terrorist attacks. Until today 3055 US soldiers and 60000 civilians died in Iraq.

What are they dying for?

Oil?
Money?
Revenge?
Freedom?
Religion?
Politics?
Protect us?

These are the questions that we should ask ourselves.

I think that Iraq should be split in 3 different countries. The North for the Curds, South four the Shiites and the centre for the Sunnites. (I know, there’s no oil in the centre of Iraq, the majors oil wells are in the North and South of Iraq)

There’s also the question of what will Iran, Syria and Turkey do if Iraq is splinted in 3 different countries.
Probably nothing, they have already enough problems inside their own borders.

I sincerely don’t think that the world is a safer place after the Afghanistan and Iraq’s war.
Just remember all the terrorist attacks we had since the beginning of those wars.

The speculation in Oil prices reflect the insecurity we live today, you cannot deny that.

Before invading another countries to destroy the terrorist training camps, we should destroy the financing network of those terrorist organisations. Everybody knows that they have a financing network in Europe and in US.

I sincerely think that US and Europe should have a common politics to solve the Middle East issue and also to prevent terrorism

Don’t forget that terrorists are already in US and Europe just waiting for the right moment to attack.

We should ask ourselves, why those people hate US and Europe?

If we think that they are the bad guys and we’re the good guys, we’re wrong!!!

We must understand the reason of the hate to find a solution to this problem.

I don't believe people know how true that is. If they did everybody would be cleaning up their act. But it aint gonna happen.

It depends in how the statistics are calculated.
Some say 60000 ( http://www.iraqbodycount.net/ ) (http://antiwar.com/casualties/)
and the latest reports say 600000 (http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/i...raq-dead_x.htm)
