I will be lining up for it at the Cingular store on Friday for sure (if they have enough inventory in Maui).

I suspect Apple will reveal more "surprise and hidden" features next week. Would be nice if Apple would announce a subsidy for the two year contract and bring the price down a little bit.

I also think that Cingular will re-introduce their $19/mo. unlimited data plan. I was able to sign up for it before they got rid of that smartphone-promotion back in February 2005.

it's going to be a long week:wow:

If that happens, and they get a decent text/pix/video package, then I'll take the plunge... but not for $700  I'll wait 5 or 6 months, thankyou :nanana:

That's what I'm waiting for as well, before I fully commit. My guess is that the plan(s) will be announced either Wednesday late pm or Thursday am. It's $499 or $599 btw. Still a helluva lot of $$. With that said, I have already edited/prepared my address book and calendars on my MacBook so that I can sync it up a.s.a.p. .

What if you don't own anything else Apple?
Can I sync it to my current PC?

Yes, it will sync with Outlook as well.

"Making a call with iPhone is as simple as tapping a name. You won’t need to re-enter all your contacts because iPhone syncs with the address book you already use on your computer — Address Book or Entourage on a Mac, or Outlook or Outlook Express on a PC. If you keep your contacts on the web using Yahoo! Address Book, iPhone can sync with them, too. To get ready for iPhone, organize your contacts in one of these applications and make sure they’re up to date with the latest phone numbers and email addresses. If you don’t have contacts on your computer, don’t worry. You can still enter them directly into iPhone."

No-one will know for sure the iPhones FULL capabilities until this upcoming Friday the 29th June at 6pm or later.

I will be waiting to see what the masses has to say. I think the iPhone is really a revelutionary iPod/browser with a phone tacked on. The feature functions of the phone are pretty much available on most phones that are available today. Calling it a revelutionary phone implies that it has all the major functions that the top phones have today and then some. Sprinkle in that it does it better and THEN you have a revolutionary phone.

As of right now, you can't take pictures and send them to your friends via SMS. You will have to send a video email and the recipient will need to be able to view video emails on their phone.

It will have it own special data plan for the iPhone. You MUST purchase the data plan in order to get the phone

10% restocking fee if the phone is removed from the shrink wrap.

No discount for new contract. The price of the phone is FIXED no matter what.

Non user replaceable battery. Must be taken in for repair.

No IM capabilities at this time.

There is no true business capability for email at this point. It will sync with your CONTACTS, not your email at this time.

There is NO voice dailing or voice tagging. That could cause some problems for those that use those features especially when driving.

For me the simplicity of use is a big plus for the capabilities the iPhone does have. However, to me, I will mostly be using the phone and the browser and not so much the iPod. i haven't used my iPods in several months and don't really see myself doing it again.

Even with what I see as short comings, I plan to still get the phone. Apple will most likely be coming out with several software updates that should easily address most of the things I have listed.

Just my thoughts.

Out of curiosity, how are you privy to this information i.e. no voice dialing capabilities? FYI, I was wondering about this feature.
