Well I have arranged for a safe company to come out. They will first try to manipulate the dial and if they can't do that they will drill it out and repair or replace the lock. That'll be about $300, thank you very much. Rats! They assure me that they can get in and get it resecured.

I never understood the point of safe's if people who can fix them exist. Then there must people who can do the same thing (take it apart), but take whats inside when youre not there.

A safe is to keep the crack heads out, insurance can worry about the rest. And, even though they can be broken, it takes time. Not nearly as fast as knowing the combo.. So it is there to slow people down as well. Lastly, for guys like Kevin and me, (gun owners) it would not be smart to have our loaded arsenal's laying around the house despite the fact, no kids in the house. I don't even keep valueables in the safe, those go in the vault at the bank.. Also, most safe's have a certain level of "Fire Protection" so if their is a fire, and the house should burn down, hopefully important paperwork won't be destroyed. B |
