Holey crap! Glad you're okay! The other guy, too.

Thanks all. I still can't believe I stopped in time. I was just holding on waiting for impact and metal crushing everywhere. It was surreal, the slow motion... watching what was happening. I'll post a pic of how close it was when I get home.

hey darlin' - so, let me get this straight. You know I am a little slow at this speed limit thing.
1st, what was the speed limit on this straight highway and you were doing 80 mph?

2nd, did you take a deep breath and say "CHEEEEEEEEEE!" after the near collision?

3rd, I am glad that you are okay! Tonight have a nice drink and take it easy. And try not to wake up at 0400 am and enjoy the weekend.

I was doing 80 when I slammed on the brakes is a line from an Eddie Money song. I wasn't really doing 80. :tsk:

As far as the deep breath, I was hyperventilating. I thought my heart was going to burst out of my chest, I couldn't breathe or even speak. I have never been so scared in my life.

Glad you were in a BMW and not a Ford! Don't underestimate your driving skills, either. You had to have good reflexes to allow the car to do its thing. Good driving!

glad you're okay

having the breathe taking out of you is never fun.

just stop thinking about it so it won't start aggrevating you ;)

Glad you ok. Yes there is no doubt your BMW brakes are good.

However they are only as good the guy pressing the pedal.

I think you should applaud you very quick action/response time.

I remember not so long ago when we had a Saab driving the M8 north bound a car came out into the right hand lane in front of me I was on those brakes I swear to god I thought the front lip of the car was going to ground on the tarmac yes I know the brakes helped but I believe that being a member of the IAM and taking a refresher course every 3 years helping to keep all my reactions quick and reading the road ahead helped me get out of a situation that could have ended so badly.

Anyway.

Well done you.

I definately agree on the "nervous about being rear-ended" statement- after my audi got totalled (by the car behind me's brakes failing) I have always looked twice. These brakes are something else, though, and the best part is: I don't have to worry about going through a set or five per year.
