Yes, this is true. Species have also come and gone for millions of years. People have only been around a short time, and if the climate changes continue to happen at the current pace, we will have "come and gone" as well.

drink that kool-aid :) Better go build your hemp tent now :)

I do wish people would admit (Al Gore) that it is the human environment they care about, not the planet.

--

Is the planet warmer? Yes
Are humans having an effect on the planet? Yes
Will humans kill the planet? No
Will humans kill their environment? Most likely, that is what happens to parasites when they kill the host
Are humans the cause of global warming? No
Did global warming exist before humans? Yes, cyclical changes in temperature
Should we change everything we do for the planet? No
Is your day-to-day existence killing your environment? Probably not, a Volcanic eruption does far more damage than your entire city could do.
Does it feel good to think you're green? Yes
Does it really help the environment to be green? Depends on definition. Any effect is most likely very minimal.
Should you do what you can to aid in the human environment? Yes, where plausible.
Should you drastically change your existence? No
Will humans die off as a result of destroying their environment? Probably not, we'll kill ourselves with war long before that.
Will the planet exist after humans? Yes

I live about 1500 feet above sea level.

It is you who better go build your tent. Because if the ice caps do indeed end up "gone", your entire state will be under water. And if the current pace of melting continues, you will only have about 50 years left before you need to move to higher elevation...

Nobody is claiming humans will kill the planet. Go ahead and watch Al Gore's movie. He makes very clear that the planet will continue long after we are gone.

He spends a whole part of the film discussing how all climate changes are good for some species and bad for others. Just as the polar bear is suffering due to the warming trend, mosquitoes on the other hand of more than doubled their population in the last 10 years alone.

Will the changes cause humans to die out? Probably not. But they could cause life to become very difficult for future generations.

Ever read about the "dust bowl" in the 1930s? That is an example of man altering the environment and climate in a certain area. That turned out so wonderfully for the people who lived there. There were people who predicted that beforehand as well, and they were dismissed as being paranoid.

Again, build hemp tents...run for the hills and put on your foil hats......libby's gone wild :) And your "50 year" comment, that isn't making life difficult for "future" generations. According to you, in 50 years Maryland is under water...(so with that logic, Florida is gone so is most of Southern USA...all in 50 years)..I'll check with you in 50 years :)

Try to read more than just the libby articles. Of course, can't blame you..the media has brainwashed ya so bad..you have to go 14 deep into Google to find any counter arguments....go MEDIA.

Remember it was once scientifically impossible to split the atom

How much of Maryland is now underwater? After all, 20% of the ice caps have melted already...

E X A C T L Y. Surprised our lighthouses are still out there with all that "melting". But I'm going to buy a raft, just in case  And if you DOUBT that there is a motive other than "hippey helpers" behind this GLOBAL WARMING stuff, just think of the sheer amount of money made off of anything "green". And Obama wants to give em another 2.4B....rock on.

global warming is all just Theory still, (i personal don't beleive) that is the only fact about global warming. ... slightly more interseting is the fact that many scientists believe now that it is the solar system that is warming up, not just Earth, the planets in our system are all warming up.....increase in solar radiation or 2012 bs, whos to say but the planets are slightly heating up....here is a little writeup on earth and mars
