The Mk3 does not support the NL language.

In the Mk3 usw_load file, the only available languages are
GB, US, DE, FR, IT, ES

Only the Mk4 supports NL (and RU)

What I see when trying to recode the nav with navcoder is, that the screen (which is black as it is monocrome mode) somehow blinks (like it gets an reset command) but nothing is displayed on the screen. And booting the os cd afterwards, does not change anything. the nav reboots after upgrade process and still seems to stay in monocrome mode.

"logging the process while bmw is recoding the nav?" is exactly what I did, and I based NavCoder 'Defaults' on this process. Maybe I missed something - the log is 60 pages long....

Well, the Mk3 can be any of 50 different languages if you modify the software.
You want Zulu? No problem.
Maori? we can do it.
Russian? sure thing.
Fijian? why not.

Any language you want, if you translate the text yourself.

My point is that the STANDARD software produced by BMW only contains the 6 languages GB, US, FR, DE, IT, and ES.

The question was why doesn't NavCoder load NL on a Mk3 when using the BMW OS CD.
The answer is: the standard BMW OS CD does not support NL for the Mk3.

Ok maybe that is correct.
But it is possible to get it in Dutch.
So i trust you when you said that the original was not in dutch.

But Appy want it in dutch and he can contact me if he want.

Hello everyone,

I'm quite new in here and have been studing NAV's, IBUS, TV TUNER, etc. for the last two weeks (since I bought my 2006 BMW x3), so excuse in advance for some stupid thing I could ask or say ...

I've bought the Resler's Interface and I'm still waiting for it to change the "TV in motion feature", have also downloaded the Jochen's Navcoder !

Well my question is: BMW/NAVTEQ does not offer maps from Brazil to use in BMW NAV. I have Brazilian maps for DESTINATOR (winmobile) and for ROUTE 66 (also windows mobile). I'm quite sure destinator use maps from NAVTEQ . Is there a way to use my destinator's maps to buit a BMW MAP DVD ?
What OS does BMW NAV use ? Are the OS's different from one model to another ?

Thanks and sorry for my english mistakes !

The BMW system is made by VDO-Siemens, the map disc format is proprietary.

But a VDO-Siemens map disc will ork in the BMW.

Other cars that use the VDO-Siemens nav system are:
BMW
New Mini
Rolls Royce
VW Phaeton
Some French cars like I think Peugeot

You can try approaching these car dealers in Brazil and asking them if they have map discs for their cars. Start with Rolls Royce and VW Phaeton.

The operating system is the special Carin system, developed by Philips, and now owned by VDO-Siemens. The nav is a type of Unix computer, but very very very special. The nav even has a special Carin processor chip inside it.

There are no standards for nav systems, eveyr manufacturer does it differently.

Tks for your help.
It seems like my "hopes" are going away ...

BMW does not have those maps;
Also BMW Brazil doesn't import Minis, not even VW sells Phaeton here and Rolls Royce does not have official resellers in here.
The French cars ... most of them: Renault, Peugeot and Citroen are manufacured in Brazil, and none of them has nav systems ... There are also some imported french models, BUT again with no NAV system.

Until the end of 2005, the Brazilian laws did not permit using screens of any kind in the dash of the vehicles. Last year those laws had been changed and till now we've only got some portable PDA and PND (Garmin, MIO, Delphi, etc) with Brazilian maps.

Anyway, as far as NAVTEQ has already those maps from Brazil, I guess they will soon translate them to be used in the cars !

One mopre thing to try: find the local country agent for VDO car stereos, and ask them if they have their nav systems for sale.

The only way to get a map is if VDO/BMW/VW/Rolls Royce deide to make them

And unfortunately, a nav without a map is useless...
