how do you install this?

Please read the Readme file.

Put Navcoder.exe in a directory somewhere and double click it. Easy.

Is the download link at the start of this thread working? I can't get it to work.

RichardP1 08-29-2007 05:55 PM

Thats probably because 2.2.0 has been released!!

Try http://www.bimmerboard.com/members/k...l/NavCoder.zip

'Incorrect CD/DVD Loaded?'

Guys,

I've modified v29.1 via navtweak and am trying to load it on my Nav system.

Using ImgBurn, I am consolidating the files into an .iso image and then burning it onto a memorex CDR at x1.

When I load the CD in the car the computer displays 'Incorrect CD/DVD Loaded. Please insert appropriate navigation CD/DVD.'

Any ideas where I am going wrong? I'm ruling out CD-write errors because I have done this four times with the same result.

BTW, this site is a great resource and I have learned a tremendous amount! Thanks for everyone's input!!

Ok,

1: you have downloaded v29.1 and unzipped it.
2: you have loaded the .iso file into a iso reader (like UltraIso) and drag n droped the navboot file out to the Desktop.
3: modded navboot with navteak (then saved).
4: drag n dropped navboot back into the iso (using UltraIso).
5: saved the modded iso image
6: used imgburn to write the now modded iamge to the disc.

Sounds like the iso write image is not working properly, you are not unzipping the .iso to the hard disc then writing the unzipped (and unpacked) iso to a blank cd are you??

1. I unzipped the v29. Yes
2. Then extracted all of the files from the image file and saved them to my hard drive.
3. Then modified modified navboot and saved it.
4. Then created a new, modified v29.1 iso file with the extracted files using imgBurn.
5. Then burned the image to a CD using imgBurn

Sounds like I took the long road, but is this the problem? I need to mantain the origional iso?

I also ran through this entire procedure using magicISO with the same result.

Thanks again!

Hi Justin,

Welcome to the forum BTW.

This sounds like where you have gone wrong, when you unzip the v29.1 zip file (to say c:\download\v29\) you should get 2 files, v29.mds and v29.mdf, do not extract, unpack or unzip any files from these files, they must remain as is.

Now is when you open the v29.mds in UltraIso, eg: run Ultraiso, File: open "c:\download\v29\v29.mds", then drag n drop the navboot file from dir "/V_2/RR/0101/BMWC01S/app_sw" from the mds file (not an unpacked dir on your PC), to the same dir as the unzipped v29.zip file "c:\download\v29\"

Copy the navboot to navboot.orig (as a safe backup) then mod your navboot file, then drag and drop it back into the still open (in ultraiso) v29.mds image.

Save the ultraiso image, File: Save as, "c:\download\v29\v29-modded.iso"

You should now have only 5 files in you v29 unzip dir (c:\download\v29\)

1: v29.mds
2: v29.mdf
3: navboo.orig (unmodded)
4: navboot (modded)
5: v29-modded.iso

Nothing else.

Use the v29-modded.iso to the create your CD. (with imgburn).

Indeed, this is why it does'nt work, as when you repack the file into an .iso the file format is now wrong and the nav computer will not recognize it as an update disc.

see above for the correct proceedure.

Not used magiciso, but I would imagine it does the same sort of thing.

hope this helps
