Installed version 30 on my e39 with MK4 .. lost the ability to search for places using the text search whch was added with version 29. Im going to revert back to v29. Just thought I'd mention this in case anyone is thinking of upgrading. I dont think it makes any sense to do so since its clear that there are no new features added to I-Bus cars with MK4. Has anyone else come across the same?

OS disc v30 contains Mk4 software 4-1/91
OS disc v29 also contains Mk4 software 4-1/91 The Mk4 software version on the v30 OS disc is not changed from OS v29 OS v30 changed the E65/E66 software for the NAVI03. Your problem may be related to something else, or you may have been using an older version than 4-1/91 |

Thanks Kiwi for your response, please see attached pics.....
I will try tomorrow to load an earlier version like 27 or 28 then go back up to 29 and see if this fixes the problem. I will report back my results. Regards, DT |
went back to version 21 then back up to v29. Travel Information is still "grayed out" however on the bright side my info and select buttons work now. I also coded the Navi using Progman 28.2. Still cannot select Travel information. Has anyone had this happen? Kiwi, any ideas what would cause it?
thanks, |

RDS=Radio Data System TMC=Traffic Message Channel Two key factors are required for TMC to work: 1. The map disc must have the TMC location database on the disc. If this exists, you can select travel info. Once selected, TMC lights up red on the screen, as TMC is active, and looking for an RDS-TMC signal. 2. You must have an FM-RDS station in your area broadcasting the TMC data, and you must be tuned to it. One received, TMC lights up green on the screen. I believe you are in the USA: I don't think anyone radio station broadcast RDS TMC data in the USA, and if they did, I don't think any maps exist for the Mk4 nav with a TMC database on them. As for the issue that it is grayed out... Insert your nav cd/dvd into the pc and check if you have folder called TPD, if not then you have old version disk that dont carry POI. Before software carried POI and not disks, that changed allong the way, so that could be your problem. One more thing can generate randome issues, and that is bad cd-r try a brand cd-r that might help |

You are absolutely right: the Travel Information menu appears when the /TPD directory structure and associated files exist |
E5M1R,
Thank you. you hit the nail on the head. it was a faulty MAP DVD, used a different DVD and all is well now. Sometimes you look over the simplest things. Thanks for the reminder. best regards, |
