There are no radio stations nation wide that send TMC in US

This is correct. TMC requires the radio station to actually broadcast the information. In the USA, the only stations that I know have something similar are the Clear channel ones, but they use an entirely different system. We are a bit behind the times in the USA on this sadly. I switched my MINI head unit to a Euro model just to get TMC while I am stationed over here. It works very well of they keep it updated. Hopefully us US folks will catch on to this someday.

Why does my dads 335i show all the traffic on his map then?

US cars with RTTI use a different method as daflake said. It's provided by clear channel and has nothing to do with radio stations (like TMC uses in Europe)...

If I recall correctly it's actually done through Satellite radio? Have a look: "Unlike other automobile manufacturers that charge a recurring monthly fee for RTTI, or require customers to pay for an additional satellite radio service, BMW has included RTTI as part of the cost of the navigation system for select 2007 BMW models. "

So basically I think BMW is installs the satellite radio unit in when you order Navigation - it just isn't activated unless you pay for the Satellite radio option - despite being active the entire time to enable RTTI.

My Nav is running since Sunday on V31 (+/- 1000 KM running), and I see no changes.....
