I just installed the upgrade to my 04 X5. Awsome, man is this better. It is beginning to become a system that will command some respect... BMW, try the Audi A4 Nav (Aisin) This is your goal! You're almost there with this upgrade!

Good work!!!

Just done a successful upgrade on my 03/2005 (UK) 4.8is with the software downloaded from this post

I must admit I was a bit nervy about doing this myself at first.

I work at the local BMW dealer and thought at first I'll just get them to do it since I am still under warranty just in case it doesn't work and I have to take it in to them and have to explain what I done.

But I thought, "No way. He who dares wins!" and so I followed the instructions given here to the letter and a few minutes later I now have the latest version of the software appearing to run like a dream.

The only difference on mine to the screen shots shown earlier in this post was that the language choices on mine were different (D;GB;F) and it only took a couple of minutes max.

Not having used it extensively (since the upgrade a few minutes ago) I don't know of any potential side effects, but it looks good so far and I'll post any percieved 'glitches'.

Thanks again UCrewX5 and Ferri

I had mine updated at the dealer on 11/4 from V24 to V26. I printed a copy of the SIB (thanks to this website) and they updated it with no problem.
Service advisor tried to charge 30 dollars, but I talked them into doing it as a courtesy.
I love the change in graphics and display overall. However I don't care for the fact that you arterial streets disappear at 1/2 mile zoom. Hopefully they will correct that in the next version. Great improvement. Thanks.

I tried to update last night and it would not work, my car kept rejecting the cd. I confused because my cd burner at home allowes me to burn at x2 which is as slow as possible. However, I tried it again this morning with a different CD burner and even though the cd burner would only let me burn it at x48, it worked perfectly. The update is great and was MUCH needed! Thanks everyone!

From my research on this site and from my experience if your nav system is having trouble recognizing the software cd then it is either a problem with your CD-R or your burner.

Looks as if my five-day old X5 came with the latest Nav software in it 4-1/60.

Hey guys, I'm a bit late looking at this update, but can anyone tell me if an older X5 with 2-1/80 will be worth a revision with this??

ricky.agrawal 12-11-2005 06:19 PM

If your navigation can take the update, do it.
It makes a WORLD of a difference. Everything looks much clearer!

You have a Mk2 nav drive, so you must have an early production 2000 X5. Any OS disk from V21 and on will take that particular nav drive to the lastest version, which is 2-1/81. You probably won't notice much of a difference, though.
