It could be that POIson, does soemthing to the volume.

I have a SOT amp on mine so had to turn down the volume anyway, but to adjust the volume I used the TP option, this will equlise the volume between the nav and radio/cd/tape/ipod.

Hi ccfj1, I'm not using voice alert as well, but I would like to ask you to help us investigate the case. So far it seems when we add the voice alert message this is not affected by the volume regulation. Do u have any clue what POIson.exe does to the software? Could it be the sound file itself or what?
Thanks a lot..and have a nice weekend mate!:bustingup

OK.

Agreed, I did not notice any (large) change when I did its, but thats not to say it doesn't.

AFAIK,

POIson.exe

1: unpacks and opens the carindb (DB) ready for alert insertion
2: enables military bases db in carindb (DB) file
3: populates the military bases with alert locations in easy reading formats
4: recompiles, compresses then saves carindb (DB).

Patch.exe

1: enables the alert function in the navboot
2: sets area to be used (for alert)
3: sets whether its and into or out off area for alert. (enabled only for in)
4: sets the alert DB to be military bases
5: sets alert icon to military bases
6: checks the military bases db has entries

What it can also set (but not enabled, as not stable in testing)

6: minimum speed to alert, so if under speed no alert sounds.

This would be great **IF** the db entry was able to have its speed info set.

7: multiple alerts for same alert (so we get 1 but it could 2 or 3)
8: alert at nav power on, to inform alerts enabled.

Yes, that would be my first though, I tried to set my alert at the same volume and its seems to be about right, but setting it higher would also work ok.

Hello guys, thanks for your help. It looks like I have both iso's complete now and ready for install, which brings me to my next problem. I have previously upgraded my satnav to v32 and my system isn't installing the new DVD. Also with the map DVD I forgot to set the burn speed to low and it run at max speed. It seemed work intermittently so I burnt another map DVD at x4 and it doesn't see it at all. I'm using TDK DVD's.

Change the version number of the update disc.

Make the update disc you make outside the OEM version number scheme, and then just run a OEM v32 to clear the system, before you run new OS.

Burn at slowest rated speed of the blank cd/dvd (not an arbitrary number mate).

the problem that you are facing that you didn't change the version

you have to change the version by hexa program as mention on this post.

I followed the instructions right through and used the hex editor to change the binary code as below.

Quote:

C: Force SW upgrade
1. Extract sw_rel.tbl form CD image
2. Use hex editor to change first 4 bytes from '1000' to '1001' to force upgrade.

How should I go about this? By changing the iso file name to something like NAV_SW(v33)?

So if my disks are rated at 1-16x I should burn at 1x? I'm not sure that ultraiso will allow me to go that slow.

Thanks for you help guys, I'm sorry if I'm being rather slow here. I'm just trying to get it all clear.

No thats wont work mate, use a hex editor and change the value of 1000 to 1001.

Discs will have a range of speeds, use the slowest rated (from the list in imgburn).

Do not use ultraiso to burn the disc mate, its crap, use imgburn it gives way more control, (thats why is recommend here).

We all start some where mate, don't worry about it.

Thank you Sir, your a gent.

OK I tried burning the OS iso again with the recommended software and at 1x speed but it didn't work still.

I extracted the sw_rel file from the following location.

I then opened it with a hex editor and got -

OK I got some new DVD's and burnt the images at x1 and the installed fine......but no speed cameras and no alerts. WWwwwaaahhhhh :dunno:

I'm getting toward my wits end.

I apologies for, probably silly question, but is it true that in order to get 2010 maps with red cameras to work i have to have a modified v32?

Maybe a bit offtopic but i'm stuck with the follwoing situation:
1. I have x3 06 with MKIV v32 it works with 09 unmodified maps. ( it's not the original disk so i can't say "original maps". )
2. i picked up 09 with red cameras here on forums and 10 w/o cameras. 09 with cams doesn't fit on the 4.7 DVD and the 10 is not working.
I would appreciate any help, please
