Adding POI with sound alerts to you BMW MK4 nav system.
Proviso; this software is still in development and may give some interesting results while in use so please report any bugs or strange behaviour
You use this at you own risk.

Download POISoN.zip.pdf, remove .pdf extension then unpack ZIP archive somethere (c:\poison for example).
GKT+ runtime environmet must be installed to run poison.exe

A: OS Software modification
1. Open original V32 image with UltraIso.
2. Extract navboot file from CD image to c:\poison
3. Run patch.exe to add sound notification code.
4. Replace military base icon (romicons #216) to something you like.
5. Put modified navboot file back to CD image.

B: Voice modification
1. Extract voice file from V_2/Voices/0506 (gb_f.csf for english)
2. Edit voice phrases #8 #9 using NavSpeak utility, for example: 322,323,88,250,191 (high beep, low beep, a pause, attention, ahead)
3. Put modified voice file file back to CD image.

C: Force SW upgrade
1. Extract sw_rel.tbl form CD image
2. Use hex editor to change first 4 bytes from '1000' to '1001' to force upgrade.

D: Force Voice upgrade
1. Create directory /V_2/Voices/0507 in original disc image and copy all files from /V_2/Voices/0506 to it
2. Copy voice.lst file from poison zip archve to /V_2/Voices/0507
3. Copy lng_rel.tbl file from poison zip archve to /V_2/RR/0101/BMWC01S first 4 bytes in lng_rel.tbl must be the same as in sw_rel.tbl

Burn CD and upgrade the system.

E:Adding POI to map database:
1. Copy map database from CD/DVD to the hard drive (bibliogr and carindb files are enough fo CD, bibliogr and DB folder for DVD maps).
2. Run poison.exe, open map folder (folder where bibliogr file located)
3. Add your own POI or import from plain lon/lat txt or csv file.

You can use: iGO 8 txt, iGo txt, GARMIN csv, destinator asc, mio asc, navigon asc, route 66 csv and tomtom asc files from there.
4. Save modified database
5. Insert modified database (carindb file of DB folder) back to image using UltraIso.

Note: Don't create new disc from scratch, it will not work.

F: Burn the disc.

Please remember when burning your discs, to burn at either 1x speed or the slowest rated for the media you are using.

Also use the Update procedure when upgrading your mk4.

Goto the car open the drivers door,
Goto the nav computer and press eject on drive,
Eject the map disc,
Switch ign to pos 1, leave door open.
Insert firmware disc into drive, follow instruction on nav screen.
Wait (approx 6 mins) until the nav computer ejects the cd
Then confirm reboot.

Do not switch off ignition or close the door when doing the upgrade.

Then Insert modded map disc.

NOTE: Extra stuff needed to get it all working, in case it's not obvious.

NOTE Update 24-02-10.

If running windows7 then you need to run 2.14.7 (gtk2-runtime-2.14.7-2009-01-13-ash) of the GDK+ Libraries for the poision.exe to work.

Navtweak (both 2.6 and 2.7) need 2.16.6 (gtk2-runtime-2.16.6-2009-12-01-ash) of the GDK+ Libraries to work.

You can have them in 2 separate dirs.

Call me noob, but where can I find navboot file (2. Extract navboot file from CD image to c:\poison)??

You need to open the v32.iso with something like ultraiso and then navigate to the dir above.

Remember to make the file read/write (or you can't make changes to it).

Get an error from Poison.exe :

"This application has failed to start because libgdk-win32-2.0-0.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem."

Thx i see directories from 0101 till 0103. I have a MiniCooper S do I need another bootfile? I succeeded with patching. Replace military base icon (romicons #216) to something you like. - Where can I see this icon? Will this be visible when starting the navigation computer? I would like to maintain the original MInI Cooper logo if possible :)

You need to get a newer version of the GTK+ libraries

The mini mk4 is the same as all the other mk4's so use the one in the 101 dir.

Use navtweak to open the navboot and the scroll down until you get to #216 and the "replace" with the camera icon.

yes, the cameras will be on all the time, no need to select as a POI, in fact you can run another POI as well, I will be running Mobile camers (with no sound).

Unless you change the spalse screen yourself it will be the same.

E.g. I have already a disc with POI's using the software PimpMyNav, because i don't know how to do add this in the Navigation DVD so the POI's will be visible in the Mini Cooper. Can I use this disc with POI's already? I advice people to use Notepad++ as a hex editor

Don't unpack the whole map disc, you only need the DB files.

OK, Make and image of you map disc (I used the 2009-1 Euro HIGH disc, the 2007-2008 VDO cd also works)

Make 2 dirs in the C:\\POISon dir ; 1 called "C:\\POISon\DB" and the other called "C:\\POISon\DB1"

Open the image with UltraIso and drag the 2 DB files (BD_0 and DB_1) into the "C:\\POISon\DB" dir along with all the other files in the top DB dir, see hlighted files in pic

Run the poison.exe and press the forward button, select the map DB in "C:\\POISon\DB" and then open, the forward, then select the import
Select map to modify (if possible, use CD map, not DVD or DVD-DL).
On the edit page click 'Import' button and select file "tomtom.asc" then save modified database in DB1.

Drag and drop the now modified database files back to CD/DVD map image.

Save the map image to something like 2009-2-Sound.iso.

I used the tt.ov2 then used poiconvertor to make a asc file and then imported that.

i have used GARMIN's from POIplaza, as mentioned in first post

and I can't manualy insert any data, it always inserts 28,98793 and 13,52245

In what file/folder are you GTK/Bin?? Look at his path that is the problem we have. How did u came in common files?

I installed all the GTK files in the OEM place,

I then installed the patch.exe and the poison.exe in the same fir, (as well as navtweak and navspeak)

GTK/bin = (all GTK dlls.)
poison.exe
patch.exe
navspeak.exe
navtweak.exe

Hmm, looks good so far, not sure what the problem is. se the above post and confirm that all the files are in the GTK/bin dir.

What GTK version did u download do u have a link to that file?

Is it neccessary to have navspeak and navtweak in that folder as well?

Check status string after pressing 'Import' button and selecting import file.
It should looks like this: XXXX points imported, YYYY added.
XXXX - number of lines with recognized lon/lat values.
YYYY - number of points added to the database (coordinate lays inside map bounds).

If no lines recognized (XXXX=0) it's something wrong with input file. Check it's not empty, don't use national symbols in path and filename.

Nomad, ccfj1 used the same file as me with him there is no problem but by my 0 points imported 0 added. Strange the other guy had the some prob

yes I have exactly the same problem as you. Itried to uninstall GTK+ and reinstall it, but the problem is still there, no import posible

That is when you load the import file. In the bottom of that screen. I'm very curious what we are doing wrong or missing.

right click on the file and there must not be enabled Read only

Check your windows locale settings (control panel -> language and regional standards). Decimal point delimiter must be set to '.' (dot) not to ',' (comma).

Works for me too :) thx nomad Stil resort me for so far last question. I bought the PimpMyNav software because the POI's in the MiniCooper are different than in a regular BMW. According to the coder of that application. So will the POI show up on MiniCooper as well? I tried once the navigation disk with POI's for BMW in my navigation and there were no POI's visible. After that in a BMW MKIV system POI's were visible. This means the folder is different for those two where to save....

I"m very curious if somebody has it working already :P

Better is:
> 2. Use hex editor to change first 4 bytes from '1000' to '1010' to force upgrade.

Reason:
1001 is not visible (shows as 4-1/00) and thus you cannot verify the SW version is different

1010 is visible (shows as 4-1/01) and so the user can see that the SW has updated

No 1001 is visible like SW 4-1/01 and 1010 is visible like SW 4-1/10

I flashed my OS. This succeeded the version was 10.01 in the screen while flashing.

After flashing my Navigation rebooted and there was in the menu under 'set' 4-1/00.

Now I put my new modded Map DVD into the player but there are no POI's visible.

It is MKIV for the Mini Cooper.

Yes, it should be ok becouse if you follow all the process ( import the txt file or csv file) and then you save the modded database...you will finally see "military base" with a higher number (depending on how many coordinates where included in teh txt file!)

Nomad, do you know which patch results in always visible military icon, because that is what i don't get on my navigation system.

I checked the Map DVD and there are 2933 military POI's, but still not visible on the map.

Just compiled another DVD with military base POI's added now.

But still no icons visible on the Map :(

That POI is also not visible/selectable under POI on location. There are some POI's like entertainment or busstation.

How can i get military base icon visible on the map?

I checked navboot file on the OS Upgrade CD and that one likes fine with my own custom icon.

I modified the V32 so far and no problems except of one:

it says Error: Unable to open output file :rolleyes:

The Navboot and the patch have to be at the same folder.

There is no reason this shouldnt work on a Mini Cooper S with a MKIV.

Edit: I noticed you were putting the files on your desktop, try putting it in a folder on your c so that it doesn't have spaces in the foldernames.

Just done the NAV_SW update, but i have an issue with GKT+ when i run poison.exe, i end up with the following error msg:
"The procedure entry point gimp_drawable_is_valid could not be located in the dynamic link library libgimp-2.0-0.dll."

FYI, i tried the latest version of GKT+ without sucess...

Another question, does anyone tried to use PimpMyNav to update the required POI's to work in this procedure or do we have to use Poison?

Need some help please, i can't wait to try this new feature.

This is GKT+ version number problem, try and find 2.14 this works.

PimpMyNav only mods the TPD POI locations, you must use POISon, as this adds POIs directly to the Map DB.

You should be able to still use PimpMyNav to add POIs for other stuff though.

Sorry for my ignorance here but If you're not familiar with hex editing this means nothing. I've opened the file with a hex editor and what I see is bewildering! Could anyone explain as I'd really like to get sound notifications enabled for the speed cameras.

"1001" = first 4 bytes, or first 4 characters in the file

Edit them from 1000 (ie: 10.00) to a higher version such as 1001 (ie 10.01) using a file editor

As the file format is NOT a windows text file, then a hex editor is the safest way to change these characters without upsetting the fileformat

This is what I did, change the highlighted 30 to 31 save then then drag back into the /V_2/RR/0101/BMWC01S dir

You're editing the wrong file

Mark you must open sw_rel.tbl from this path : /V_2/RR/0101/BMWC01S

You are using a file locate in wrong path.

07-01 NavDVD not working on 2005 E90 system
 

Hi guys ,I bought a South African Road Map Proffessional 07-01 but it doesnt read on my navigation system (error : Insert Medium). I have a 2005 idrive system (E90)with version 26 installed. I used to have a old 2004 disc that was not a map version and that worked fine until the disc got damaged about a month ago. My dvd is able to read DL discs. BTW the disc that I bought is an original from an 2007 M3 owner.Any advice what I should do?

This does not work in I-drive (pro) systems only High, mk4s

I managed to modify and burn the image but got no sounds whatsoever. Checked the language configuration and had 3 language selections but all were GB and none gave any voices. Did the whole process again and re updated. Still no voices but at least I got 3 language selections (GB,F,D). This time the system kept re-booting then changed the screen display to a non GPS version. Managed to roll back to the original V32. BTW I tried rolling back without hex editing the 1000/1001/1010 stuff to force an update and it was successful. Any ideas anyone?

did you patch the navboot file?
did you add a phrase to #8 or #9?
did you test the phrase before loading?
did you add 0507 voices instead of 0506?
did you update the voice sw_rel table?
was the 3 x GB intentional or not?

Of course you don't need to edit the 1000 string when rolling back to V32, because that's the version info. V32 contains version 10.00 (1000), and you should not change that.

Does this mean that I should delete 0506 and only have 0507 left on the cd?

No, i have both on the cd, just add the 0507 dir (with modded lang files and modded voice.lst) and then overwrite the lng_rel.tbl file. Job done.

Everything seems to work, also i haven't drive close enough to a POI yet to trigger the Audio msg, but i can see the icon on the map.

However i have an issue, don't know if anyone got a similar issue, with the mod OS SW v32 and Europe High 2009-1 DVD (without additional languages to reduce DVD space to single layer), the nav system sometimes reboot by itself, it seems to follow a map scale change by the user that makes it crash but i never had that before ??? any ideas if it's coming from this last mods ?

No. Your reboot is a bad loaded software, you must load the soft again or burned on 1x speed

I had this on scale changes.

Either the OS or map disc have an read error, make sure that the blank discs are of a good make and that you burn at either x1 speed or the slowest rated speed of the discs.

This fixed mine and I'm now stable.

Regarding the update, can i reload v32 considering i currently have set the first 4 bytes of sw_rel.tbl (and lng_rel.tbl) to 1010 just by changing those to something different like 1001 ? or do i have to do a real downgrade before?

Yes, I did all those things.The 3XGB is a mystery to me. I used the same CDRWs as for previous nav updates (Verbatim), which have always worked but the slowest write speed with UltraIso or Nero was 10X, which I accepted. Previosly I used the full version of Nero which had the option of a lower burn speed. The 10X speed didn't seem to cause any problems during the update but maybe that's the reason I'm having this problem? I knew about the slow burn requirement but my PC is fairly new and high spec (quad core 9550) so I thought I'd get away with the faster burn.

So today we replace the Military POI with this - How easy would it be to modify another POI such as "law courts" and apply this same technique for mobile speed cameras? This way, you add your ASC file and associate a diff sound warning to differentiate between fixed and mobile but maintain the voice alert for both.

I realise we could stick to the old method since two POIs can be displayed at the same time but thought this would be really coool :-)

j ai reussi a integrer les poi sur le dvd 2008-1 avec poison.

mon probleme est pour la mise a jour modifié:
j ai suivi le tuto a la lettre en modifiant le navboot,le f.f.csf ligne 8 et 9,le sw_rel.tbl a 1010 et j ai ajouter un dossier 0507 dans voices...ensuite creation de l iso avec ultraiso et gravure lente avec alcohol.mais le soucis est lorsque je fais la mise a jour dans la voiture l ecran reste figé sur la page de mise a jour et n affiche pas la barre de progression.
j ai refais toute la procedure et regraver un cd verbatim et toujours pareil.

quelqu un aurais t il une idée de mon probleme ou si une personne qui a reussi pouvais uploader sa version en iso ce serais cool

pour info j ai travaillé la modif sur une V32.

if you have set the first 4 bytes to 1010, did you also update the lng_rel.tbl as well?

Should the modded voice.lst fil be both in 0506 and 0507 folders?
It say´s that you should make a folder named 0507 and copy over all files in 0506 to 0507 and then copy voice.lst file from poison zip archive to folder 0507.:dunno:

Just the 0507 dir mate

Drag and drop 0506 onto the desktop,
rename to 0507
copy the voices.lst into the new 0507
copy the modded voice file (gb_f.csf)
drag and drop back to open OS image in voices dir.
Drag an ddrop lng_rel.tbl file from zip into correct dir.

Got some different Verbatim disks which will run at 1x speed and now have 3 language options GB,F,D. the F and D work when I change volume giving "louder" and "quieter" but when I select GB, the volume slider starts to freeze and the system re boots. I'm no expert but I think there must be some corrupted files somewhere and I'm not convinced it's connected to the 10 X speed of my earlier burns as some say that modern writers/media don't work well at low speed as they're optimised for high speed transfer. I think I'll repeat the whole process using XP as I've never really trusted Vista.

could you explain a bit better what you did to fix this problem because I´m having this problem and tried with many things like access authorization etc. but still get this error message "Unable to open database files"

Did you test it on MK3? Just wondering is it possible at least to insert POI to MK3 map? Voice is not possible but to have POI on the screen on MK3 would be good as well....

As far as I know that sound alert could be defined only for one type of POI and not more..... I agree that I would be very useful to define alerts to several POIs but up to this moment it is impossible.....

You even can not add more than one POI (group I mean) using POISoN and not more..... This is not the PMN program and this is not the target for POISoN (to add different POIs)..............

Maybe I'm doing something wrong here but I've got a question.
You say at stage C that you have to hex edit sw_rel.tbl but do not mention what you do with it afterwards. I assumed you overwrote the original with UltraIso, which is what I did. I've tried the mod 6 times but keep getting the same problem. If I change languages to F or D, I can change the navi volume and hear the "louder" or "quieter" but as soon as I select English, the volume slider starts to freeze and the system re boots into German. I have used several different downloads of the V32 SW and 2 different RAR apps, 2 different media types and 2 PCs but still no luck. I tried running in French and got all the voice directions, saw the new camera icons but did not get a sound alert (should have been 250/attention). Thanks for all your work. Before I had this car I used TT6 and cannot believe how pathetic the navteq is by comparison but your hack would make a huge difference as I can't watch the screen all the time and can easily miss a speed cam.

a short question

i have allready in my 2009-1 map installed pois of my country and for example i have an icon for cameras
yesterday trying to follow the instructions i see i have to change the military icon mith a camera with navtweak
if i dont change the icon is there a problem???

Same problem for me. NAV kept rebooting, and then just crashed.

Im using high quality media and burning at 1x speed

I've now reflashed down to v29, then to the original v32 until this is resolved.

since you went back to original v32, did the problem disapear? as i am still having this bug but haven't figure out if it's coming from the OS or the Map itself...

All is fine with v32. Only the modified POIson version keeps barfing.

I have done all the changes but get the Info on the screen while updating "corrupted cd" now I´m looking step by step where the problem could be.
I´m familiar with the Software itself but one question the navboot has to be changed only in the BMWC01S correct? Because in BMWM01S is one too.

About rebooting software....
I have noticed if the navboot file gets too big becouse of the big flashimage or other icons, it becomes unstable..
I have solved this issue by replacing all the icons that are not used and mini boot screen to as small images as posible. (This in V29)
I see no reason that this would be diferent in V32 (have not upgraded my self yet to DL support)

Now i have a question of my own...
How hard would it be for the maker of the software, to let us dicide whitch poi to exchange, and if this is possible i would like this function not nececerely to work with sound allert, but just so i can have multiple pois show on screen.

Correct, try and keep the navboot files as close to the OEM size as possible, the navboot patch does not increase the file size.

I changed the mini splash screen with a black blank pic and this makes all the other changes about the same size as the OEM navdoot.

I beleive nomad is looking at this, BTW if you don't want the alert just use 88 in #9 and you get no sound.

I've actually added my own wav file that says Hi-beep, lo-beep, "speed camera ahead", it seems to work quite nicley.

I ment more that i want the sound as it it now, but if function to add more pois to be shown all the time, for those that thay dont have to support voice

Ah, right, yes I see, I think that nomad is looking at a on/off switch in the menu so you can have an of/off.

It sounds like the OEM voice too, so a bit of a result.

It depends on speed, the distance is speed related, you *should* get 15 seconds warning to target.

Fixed distance setting were Ok for slower speeds but anything over 60 and you don't get much time to do anything about your speed..

It depends, the way that the alert works is so;

Example; you are travaling at 30kph, and the area around you car is 300m, (you in centre), the nav "asks" if there are any loaded pois in the area around the car (every 3 sconds), if the answer is yes, the nav triggers the alert (but only once).

Howerer, if you stop or slow down (or go close to zero kph) or stop, then when speeding up again (and still in target area) then the trigger will sound tha alert again.

Since this is a hack to the OEM system and is non OEM then there will be some things that don't/won't work as you want them.

I think that you do, since voice load function does not exist in V29
So doing step C on v29 wont do you any good, however it is a must for v32

I actually took aout the data from 0506 and put in the 0507, so my 0506 is empty...it work anyway becouse the language update will read only the 0507 if you force teh update!

so there is no need to have the files on both 506 and 507 ???

I'd love to know how you get the GB voice file to work. I've modded and burned about 8 ISOs now and they all work in F and D but as soon as I select GB I get a reboot and no voices.

if you did not downgrade to V29 or earlier, how did you get it to load voices again.
This might be your issue, some mistake you made on your first gb file and it is not beeing replaced.

I've re loaded V32 about 8 times and on 6 occasions the update seemed to be normal and I saw the progress tab advance for 3 voices GB,F and D (all female). On one occasion I got a message that a voice upgrade was not necessary but it still finished and re booted as normal. I got stuck once and got a message that it was already up to date so I took an unmodded V32 ISO and did the 1000 to 1001 hex trick and managed to restore V32 with that. Every time I roll it back to V32(unmodded) the English voice comes back and everything is normal. I've re downloaded the POISoN, NavTweak and Navspeak and even used a later version of UltraISO but nothing seems to work.

Just post the nuber combination for your custom allert and i will make it for you and post it here
so you can try that one ok ?

Here you go, this is mutch newer then 506 files, but works just fine or eaven better tis is 602 version of gb file.
Click with right mouse button and chouse save target as...
After you insert it to your software CD remove .swf att the end (so it says gb_f.csf and you are good to go

Works perfectly and the voice does sound better. I have just driven past a speed camera and received two separate "caution" alerts. I don't understand why my 2 X "250" entries did not work and your "333 104 333" entries did work but I can live without that knowlege.
Thanks also to KiwiJochen and lupito ct for your help and (most of all) thanks to nomad for making something so good out of something so pathetic. It's a good job BMW don't also get their brakes from Navteq or we'd be relying on cable operated drums to stop us!

104 is just a pause i dont realy know what number it has in 0506

Hi all and THANKS NOMAD!

Tonight I have successfully finished POISoN modification and if You allow me I would like to share my experience that could help not only guys modifying Mk4 navi to their local and not standard BMW language.


A: OS Software modification
No problem yet with replacing 1kB military base icon (#216 - small tank) with bigger 3,5kB speed camera png (same one as jordi.c showed on page 6 of this thread). I was able to translate text to my language (czech), change fonts to have diacritical marks, navi screen colors for better readability and splash screen before as well as after patching the navboot file. All looks to work fine for now.

B: Voice modification
I used cz_f.csf file with czech female voice. I renamed this file to some of the standard BMW language file which I use czech instead of (e.g. gb_f.csf when I translated english text to czech) after modifying phrase #8 and #9 to something that reads like "beep beep You are approaching dangerous obstacles" in czech. I found no better standard words. Czech version has the only beep, so no hi + lo beeps. I saved modified language file back to V_2/Voices/0506 directory. Do not forget to modify all three languages coded for Your Mk4 to have speed camera alert at all three language settings.

C: Force SW upgrade
I always change navi screen colors when I am modding navboot so I know whether I have modified or original version of firmware installed just by looking at the navi screen but in addition I use this software number allocation which I consider as good way to follow:
- Not modded is 10.00 showing 4-1/00 in SET menu item,
- translated and modded is 10.10 showing 4-1/01
- and translated, modded and POISoN patched is 10.20 showing 4-1/02.

We still have a lot of numbers free if nomad has a free time to think of new great features for our navi units :D :D :D :bow:

After install You can quickly differ which version of firmware is installed (00, 01, 02). For You who translates to Your own language I use last version number (hundredths) to differ which language is czech instead and I use standard BMW language assignement (table goes like D=0, GB=1, F=2, I=3, E=4, USA=6) e.g version 10.21 is POISoN patched firmware with czech instead of UK english (copy cz_f.csf gb_f.csf) This version number I put instead of "1000" at the begining of both sw_rel.tbl and lng_rel.tbl files in /V_2/RR/0101/BMWC01S directory. You can reach the whole SW number in Navigation unit servis menu then.

D: Force Voice upgrade
As I always do a voice upgrade (when replacing original language with czech) I know that just modifying of second four (quaternion) of bytes in lng_rel.tbl file is enough to force Voice upgrade. So just changing the begining of the file from 10000506Voices/0506/..... to 10210507Voices/0506/..... will do the job. You change SW version from 10.00 to 10.21 (10.21=CZ instead of GB) and Voice version from 05.06 to 05.07 no matter it is in the same /V_2/Voices/0506/ directory.

E:Adding POI to map database
I copied DVD map root and DB directory to HDD into DB directory and then It took me a while to realize which DB directory is meant to open. I tried to open DB\DB\ directory and wondered nothing happens. Then I read deeply all the steps again and again, took a look at pictures here and found I shoud open just DB\ . Uf :) . I used names ORIGINAL and POI_ADDED instead of DB and DB1 then. It was better for me. To get the great POISoN to work I had to use both tricks mentioned here with 1) upgrading GTK+ libraries to version 2.14.7 and 2) changing temporarily decimal symbol in Regional and Language options from comma to dot. I tried to add just not more than cca 1700 speed, red light, section cameras and it all look goooood to work.

F: Burn the disc
I burnt firmware CD image on CD-R and map DVD image on DVD+RW to spare some DVD media because just few POIs used. The fact that my Mk4 reads DVD+RW means that its laser is still in good condition, YESSS :thumbup: !

I hope it will help some of You a bit.

I had no problems with steps 1-4 but at step 5 (Insert modified database (carindb file of DB folder) back to image using UltraIso), I did have problems because I could not open the files. Using UltraISO, I just clicked "add files" and selected the entire bibliogr and DB folder and overwrote the originals. I then burned the modified ISO onto a D/L DVD and it's working.

how do i find them in my menu

In order to guide you i nead to know what cd/dvd you use for map, and exactly what files/folders are on the map media.

It sounds to me that you did not menage to ad new pois to map database in place of military bases.

1 did you patch your navboot?
2 did you excract files from map media to your poison folder
3 did you run poison and aded the new pois
4 did you save your work
5 did you replace the files on mapmedia with the modded ones

Also, did you use a working cameras.png file? (#216)

When i enterd the adres to navigate to the satnav rebotted, and kept rebooting..
Will load software again...

This appears to be happening to many people. Perhaps the mod isn't so robust and needs looking into.

- which modification besides POISoN pathing did You do?
my is: color change, just 9kB splash screen, sky change, CZ translation
- which map scale do You use when it reboots?
my: all where camera's picture is visible (100m to 2km)
- how much POIs do You have added to map?
my: just cca 1500 POIs
- do You use DVD or CD version of map?
my: just DVD
- how far is the destination entered?
I tried up to 1200km.
- which part of the world You are in (e.g. because of POIs comparation...)?

I had a similar problem before. If the SW navboot file be modded / modified with NavTweak 2.6 this problem occur ( if Spalshscreen and Skyline replaced ).

If I understood it correctly the system stop navigation and reboot when receiving a TMC message.
You can deactivate TMC function and it should work stable or use Navtweak 2.7 to create a new SW disk.

I made a new disk with Navtweak 2.7 and have no problems :thumbup:

Mine works perfectly, no reboots or freezes.

Modded navboot with sky, pointers and splash and modded gb_f.csf file, Navtweak 2.6, navspeak 1.0.

OS written at slowest rated speed (x12) and Map disc at x4.

a friend was asking me if this change also would work on the MK3...I couldn´t give him any good answer so can somebody else let me know if it would?

Since 2 years i used to put POI in High DVD navigation without any problems
I have followed steps by steps this new sonore integration
All files patched and changed with sucess
But impossible to see the new poi and no sound...

Do known someone if this new process works in E65 ?

No, does not work in E65!

The navboot patcher is for Mk4 nav systems only.

E65 has NAVI01, NAVI02 or NAVI03, quite a different system

Newbie here, been sent over from the Z4 forum but have been reading this thread for the last couple of weeks.

I have used the modded OS image above and installed it successfully on my Mk IV DVD Nav System (many thanks ccfj1), and then followed nomads instructions from point E owards for adding POIs and burning a new DVD.

All seemed to work ok, but I'm not seeing any POI's on the screen. Am I missing something obvious, or is there anything else I can check?

Really impressed with the effort that has gone into this - if only I could get it to work! :)

If you want to be able to have a switch ON/OFF for the voice warnings, you can modify the software by the following way:

Do two languages exactly equals, changing to the archives *.csf.

For example to the Spanish people:

English = gb_f.csf
Spanish = e_f.csf

Do a copy of the file e_f.csf and then change the name like gb_f.csf

Change the file gb_f.csf instead of the original file gb_f.csf at the V32 iso file.

Now we modified JUST one file *.scf with the voice warning and the other one we left it without the voice warning.

Next step, with the Navtweak, import texts of the English language and turn them in Spanish.

We recorded and we loaded software to the MK.

Of this form, we have two languages in Spanish, but one with the voice warning and another one without the voice warning.

In order to change it, we must go to CONFIGURATION and change the language. Voice warning ON or OFF.
