No problem to get the kkl usb interface. Can you please provide details about the adaptor? Thanks  |
Thanks to Zeronoo for the information. By the way it seems to me that there is no difference between Ibus and Kbus ???? Am I correct or not. I searched the web and realized that the "resler interface" had already been invented beeing nothing else that a Kbus to RS 232 adapter...but the german frined was clever enough.
Said so, the signla on pin 7 of ODB connector is ok... ;) |

ibus and kbus are the same But while the kline on the OBDII is the same electrically as the kbus, it has a different data protokol |
[QUOTE=KiwiJochen;665862]ibus and kbus are the same
Does this means that the hardware interface (Resler Interface) should work with both? I mean, if I connect the Resler Interface to the OBD connector - k pin - will it work or not?In the case the HW is fine do I need diffrente software??I am a little bit confused...thanks for any clarification |
Why do you not want to hook it to the I bus line? It's easy to locate one. You could locate it on the WDS and follow it to where you wanted to make the connection.

Thanks for the clarifications. |
The electrical interface (physical connection) is the same
The data protocol (data format, data speed) is totally different kbus defines electrical interface, it does not define data protocol So yes, the Resler interface MAYBE can be used on the ODBII connector, if it can align to the same data baud rate. I don't think OBDII is 9600 baud.... And then you need some software to read the OBDII data... |
KJ thanks a lot, much clear to me now....
Last question: so, which hardware do I need to "simply" connect the OBD to the PC?...a "regular" OBD/RS232-USB interface will do the job with the right software? Any suggestion about the hardware..there are so many around, I guess a vag kkl as on ebay should work fine  Thx again. |
