Barry -

That's why I made the comment that I never see a ticket on these cars. If there was a way to report it that would be great. I would also make the fine about $500-$1000 dollars and enforce it.

With Camera phones and everything else, we should be able to come up with some way of reporting this. I know I would go out of my way to snap a picture with my cell if I thought I could curb this BS.

Don't you think the enforcement needs to start with those in charge of qualifying people for Handicapped parking privileges? I mean, what kind of disability qualifies you? I see very ambulatory people getting out of cars with handicapped plates/passes all the time.

I'd much rather see a parking space reserved for purple heart/bronze/silver star awardees than another handicapped space.

This is seriously $hit. I agree with Breyton. Here in Toronto I have seen countless times how a quite fit senior JOGGING, finished, and hopped in his handicapped-symboled S-Class. You've got to be kidding me!

I am too heavy to jog - I guess I should qualify for a handicapped parking license then.

True. I used to like SC430 till they came out with the new Solara....and since then I call both Solara. Check the Solara pic below. They look similar.

You guys are missing Kirsten and Amanda's handicap. How insenstive. Both are clearly MENTALLY handicapped.

In all seriousness, it pisses me off too when I see apparently able bodies people parking in handi spots, placard or not. I would however, be cautious in screaming at someone who does it because he or she might have a problem that prevents them from walking far but not from walking at all. I woman I work with, who I dislike immensely, had a hip replacement. She could walk well enough but not for great distances. I did feel sympathy for her and to her credit, when she was well enough to walk farther, she gave up her placard.

Here in CA, having a handicap placard exempts you from parking time limits and even parking meter fees. People like to get the placards for that purpose.

What can we do about it? Probably not much. There aren't many people patrolling parking lots for those violations. Cops are needed more urgently on the streets rather than cruising parking lots. You have to rely on "meter maids" to enforce the rule. The nice thing though is that when someone gets pinched for it here in CA, the fine is enormous. I thinks it's about $325. Serves them right.
