Times have changed for the front loaders. Some one also mentioned the front loaders leaking. They were specific Maytag models that had the angled drums and the water was never rinsed completely. Mildew was another problem. This is 2-3 years back and Maytag got sued to.
Agree, the front loaders are a lot softer with clothes and save on electricity but the price difference is significant. In my opinion a front loader is a better choice for a family of 4 or more but in your case I would go cheap. Two loads a week is not enough to justify the price difference.
