I know. I asked because my brother inlaw came here a few months back and tried and tried to get on my MAC network and he finally found out it was his card. He took the one out of My mac which was a dell and BAM off he went. Another Brother in law shows up the same week, same thing. He cant get on either but as soon as he uses my card he gets a connection. Turns out there were some issues with the way their PC's were set up using their specific cards. Using my card cleared it up. Thats why I asked weather this was a PC trying to get on a Mac network.

After letting the router assigning the ip address instead of static ip, now it won't even connect to the router. I have a wired connection now, so there's no way it's another router. It has to be the laptop, because it won't connect to the neighbor's unencrypted network either. It did before, but wouldn't receive packets.

Thank you all for troubleshooting thus far. I hate leaving stuff like this unsolved, but I gotta run out too.

If your hard wired go back to static ip if thats what you had before. If you get online hardwired then you know it's your card.

I can go online fine wired. My rocksolid thinkpad officially won't connect wirelessly to anything. This intel 2200bg wifi mini-aadapter is notorious for being a pos.

copy/paste the output from your ipconfig /all for us...

what is your default route? the fact that you are hitting 2 internal networks with one wireless device is troubling... (the 1.1 and the 2.1)

Hope you get it fixed. Do you or your friend have another wireless card?

Friend's laptop has built-in wifi as well. Dell, no problems...go figure.

ok.. so the 2.1 network is the land line to the belkin... thats also your defaut route and how you get all your other services (DNS, DHCP, etc)

how are you getting to the 1.1? it says you are not connected at all to the wireless station there...

It's not uncommon for macs to display all accessable networks but there's only one for the Mac's Local host that will let you in. The others will be too weak. Go thru them one at a time if there is more than one.
