It's a bitter green vegetable, kind of a cross between broccoli and a leafy green. Good sauteed in olive oil and garlic, or made as a soup with chicken broth. Very healthy. Also can be made with pasta and sausage garlic and oil.

Have you tried Vietnamese food? Very similar to Thai, but less heavy on the sauces, generally lighter ingredients, IMO.

Cuban food is one of my favs, of course I grew up on the stuff. I would think you could find some in SD.

Living in New England, I too love seafood, including lobster, shrimp, fish, etc. But I don't like it in the traditional "boil it 'till it's dead and drown it in butter" style. I'd much rather have that lobstah as a fra' diavolo....

I really enjoy those dishes, regardless of their authenticity... Actually, given how much I like this stuff, I'm sure it must be bad for me...

Middle Eastern and Greek foods are gonna be among the healthiest out there- lots of it is grilled and not a lot of cream or butter, but plenty of olive oil and lean cuts of meat and seafood.

I know there's a market in SD that sells great middle eastern/mediterranean foods, Kearny Mesa I think.

If you like Broccoli rabe so much, why don't you use it as your avatar and since when culinary taste has to do with political affiliations ?
