LOL.. he said seat back.. but anyways, he knows not what he speaks of. you don't get power seats on a GT2 and GT3 porsche or for that matter a Ferrari's with Sport Seats or Regular seats.. haha..

your point is right though, it's a "race car" weight is everything, motors to run power SEAT BACKS (i got it right that time

) add weight, not good.

thats horsepower, sit in a ferrari or viper and you will see its stipped down no frills performance car, no power seats etc, this car has all that, navigation, head up display, heated seats, all the goodies, its a plush car, not a stripped down sport-only type of vehicle

uhh... I've driven plenty of ferrari's have been shopping for one. Uncle has the first Enzo delivered to Hong Kong. AutoXer can probably attest to my knowledge of those cars. So are you saying that there is no such options as daytona power seats, Becker GPS (which comes on the 430 standard), bluetooth, extended leather headliner options and heated seats?? you know not what you speak of.

thats just it thou, their options just like power seats on the M3 are, our SL65 AMG (Dads) is referred to as a touring roadster because its so plush, and its far faster then any Corvette and most performance cars, not the 55, we have V12 turbocharged model, a tourning car is not some insult its just stating its not stripped down and pure sport (Viper)

Your Vette looks great. Why did Chevy stop making the fixed roof coupe? The fastback Z06 C6 doesn't seem to follow along the lines of weight reduction. Whenever I see a fixed roof C5, more often than not it's a Z06. Why lose that unique association?

Will the Z16 have any special value as these cars mature in age? I don't know very much about the Z06 Vette production numbers, but I do see that the early Z06's at a very affordable price ('01's and '02's for under $30K, probably not pristine but roadworthy). Is the resale low because GM built so many?

Will the same hold true with the C6 Z06? Do you think these $75K near exotic cars be selling for $40K two or three years from now?

Sorry about the newbie questions - I don't know jack about C5 and C6 'vettes other than magazine articles.

Z16's are too new to '04 to know about how well they'll hold their value. My philosophy though is that they're meant to be driven and are a depreciating asset, I'm not holding onto mine as a garage queen or as an investement. That's not to say that i'm not taking extremely good care of it however. The unique aspect of my Z16 is the carbon fiber hood, it's the first domestic production car to have a substantial carbon fiber body part. GM had a lot of problems getting the process down and many hoods made it to the trash bin instead of the front of a Z16 until they got it right.

I bought mine in March of 2004 for $49,500, and sub 5000 mile models are now going for $41k-$45k used. I think that the current high price on new Z is helping keep all Z's price stable. There were only 2025 Z16's made, so that should help keep the price up as well, but again, I don't care, i bought mine to drive.

Regarding the FRC vs. the hatch, (I HATE the hatch, which is why i didn't buy a coupe and haven't bought a vette prior to my Z), the C6Z's are hatches because of aerodynamics and the 505HP (structrual rigidity etc). From what I understand the current rear provides more downforce supposedly. But I'm with you, I would prefer that they kept the Z's as FRC's.

It's hard to say what will happen with the value of C6Z's, they've only been out for about a year or so. I hope that they keep their value, but there is NO WAY IN HELL I'm paying $7500 over sticker for ANY car. The ZR1 fiasco of the '91's (they were going for $100k at the time) is clearly in everyones mind as they consider the C6Z. Considering that the C6Z is a far superior car to the ZR1, you can understand how badly customers were being gouged for ZR1's in the day.
