correction.. the current batch that the CHP uses are R1100RTs. They maintain a fleet of approximately 600 BMW's now..

I don't have sales numbers, and BMW doesn't sell sleds like hot cakes,
but my guess is CA is #1 in sales with the "Northeast" 2nd, and those two areas will constitute 85% of BMW scoot sales annually.

The K12S is a great bike. Just picked mine up 2 weeks ago (replaces my 03 K12RS). They definitely made some improvements over the '05 model.

May not be the fastest bike out there, but it has enough power to satisfy all but the most hard-core speed junkie (0-60 in 2.8 seconds). It is also a lot more comfortable than many of the other sportbikes out there.

Depending on where you live there may be a lot of BMW bikes or almost none. We only have one dealer on the west side of the state, so they are rare in West Michigan.

Another option is the R1200S (for the boxer twin fan). Mine arrives at the end of the month..

All of my bikes have German "souls"... Harley did a smart thing by working with Porsche on the Revolution motor.... It'll run at 6 grand all day and not break a sweat...

BMW has done an amazing job over the last 2 years in revamping their motorcycle line. The last generation of K- and R- bikes were good, but they've really set the bar high on the current generation. Cycle World has a good article this month on their product line.

Here's a link for Consumer Cycle News mag. Not TheBible on pricing, but pretty well done, imo. Go to main page, Look down center middle, hit UsedBikeValueGuide and give the pdfs a peruse by brand and model:

http://www.mcnews.com/mcn/

It's a decent M'cycle mag, plain paper and, accepts no advertising.

Just depends on what you are looking for and how old. My '78 R100 has been in the family since day one, 224,000 miles and never any work done except the routine maint stuff. May be old, and "slow" but still love it and I would like to see one of these Honda/Kawasaki/Suzuki bikes running after 28 years and 224k.
