Reminder: This thread raised the question of spending for homeland security, and the original rebuttal was in sympathy of the issue, but with the caveat that the flow of taxpayer dollars have both rhyme and reason.

Before you attack the logic of profiling, do some research on the security methodology of Israel's El Al airlines.

Look at the bombing of the USS Cole. That ship and those sailors are the same ones that keep the shipping lanes open--the same ones that delivered your Range Rover, and the fuel to run it.

The next time the USS Cole is in San Diego, try approaching it at high speed in a boat. Your boat, now considered a threat, will not be allowed to approach. That's called profiling. Why should an angry jihadi approaching a subway turnstile in NYC be treated any differently? Think.

I am olive-skinned, with features that could vaguely be construed as all sorts of ethnicities. I am routinely given extra scrutiny in airports, and I am actually happy to have it done. Like was already mentioned, I have nothing to hide, and I want the bad guys to get extra scrutiny to keep all of us safe. So if they are giving an extra look or two to all the olive-skinned people, great! I am glad.

I agree, I think its disgusting when people use religion to validate hatred, but I think everyone should be approached with caution not just certain races. I just hate the fact I never get stopped, and no one around me either at an airport, I just don't feel at ease, I'd rather be searched, maybe on the east coast its diff, which is stupid

I think they should profile everyone, not just certain races, I think EVERYONE should have a thorough security check at the airport, so No I don't agree with racial profiling, I agree with everyone profiling.

You don't even understand what "Profiling" is. You can't "profile" everyone.

It wasn't an insult, it was an observation. You've given an impression of yourself on this board as a person who buys outfits for his dog and is having excessive plastic surgery (which as you have said is "the norm in your family"), if you don't think that that is leading a sheltered life, well, then let me point out that big forest behind that tree over there. racial profiling EVERYONE would be considered well just EVERYONE, personally why should the general population have to suffer if we know for a fact who is trying to get to us? I went to Israel a few years back, you want to talk about profiling? I'm jewish, I'm fair skinned I've got red hair and before I could even get to the ticket stand I was asked a series of questions. One of my friends didnt "Pass" and was asked more questions by another person. Took him 30+ minutes to even have the ability to check in. Now back to my profiling point, do I look like a terrorist? NO do they know that? NO but its slightly different because there are a lot of people who dont like Israel but then again there also isnt as big of a FLOW of people to the country so the EVERYONE profiling works. For the US however, its a major problem because for every one traveling to Israel there are 20 traveling within the country here or abroad now if you do the math that calls for long lines and flights missed. WE KNOW WHO WANTS US KILLED why should the rest get punished? As some here already said if I get checked or "profiled" oh well such is my luck but theres nothing I'm hiding, if these people have nothing to hide then they have nothing to worry about except for it taking a bit longer to clear. They brought it on themselves, the KKK and bigots have nothing at all in common with this issue. The main point of this thread is to B*ch about how funding was cut for a city that was, is, and unfortunately always will be the definition of the US. They want to cut funding? Thats absurd my and everyone else's hard earned money pays the taxes and these idiots argue about same sex marriage and try to sell the ports to a muslim dominated country but they dont use a dime for security in a city that has been a mark for terror not once, not twice but we got hit 2ce and more hits were put out on us, plots were foiled. Will it take another 9/11 to wake people up? I hope to g-d not because I dont want to live through 9/11 nor should anyone else have to live through anything like that. You dont fully appreciate the scale of this unless you are from here, unless you were here or know someone close to you or have seen the aftermath.

The latest news now reveals that NYC was again a possible target using the cyanide agent attacks in the subway system.

Considering that my primary civilian job and my military career involve anti-terrorism, WMD's and the intel available, I personally would not live in a large coastal city.

My son plans on finishing his law school in Miami and I'm trying my best to talk him into a smaller interior city!
