Insurance Pay out
After many weeks of back and forth I finally was able to submit a claim to his company, Budget, since that’s when I got hit and he was on the job. Their claims adjusters were very nice, sent someone out, took pictures, and I just got my checks. Yes two checks totaling a whopping $900 bucks. They also sent an "independent appraisal" which equaled the 900 figure. When I asked why it came in so much lower, I was told I had to take this estimate to the shop of my choice and if the repairs cost anything more, then the insurance company could be notified for more funds. As I have never done this before, is this common place? I just don’t want to take it in and then get stuck paying a grand out of my pocket when its not my fault at all. Just wondering what others have done/would do before I authorize work to be done. Thanks in advance, and sorry for the long post! Oh it just hurts to look at it too. I don't know how things are done in Arlington, VA but i submitted a claim to my insurance company and the X was repaired. Not knowing your carrier it would be difficult to know what their conditions are but it seems to me your insurance would be looking out for your interest, seeing to it that your car is repaired to your liking and going after the other insurance company for the cost.

Thanks y'all! My insurance company is aware so far. I didnt want to submit with them just to save on the deductible (which might just be worth it at this point) and because I figured I would be fine filling with Budget, since its their employee. But hey on a side note apparently they guy got fired over this too. Now I kinda feel bad...wait no no not really.

you have to file with your insurance company, they will fight for you with the other company as your company doesn't want to pay. Also, because this is a Comprehensive claim, it can't affect your rates. Regardless, your companies lawyers will go after Budget's lawyers, that's what you pay them for.
Report it immediately. (my family business is an independent insurance agency for over 50 years.)

Always submit to your insurance company. If the other person is at fault they have to cover your deductable as well

Hey Jwilburn, darn that man. I had the same accident. I have the same car like you do, Siena Red 2002, the same set up Alu. Boards, 19s style 63. I live in VA as just like you do, I live in Arlington too. Well, my car hasnt got fixed due to other party insurance is not paying. How the heck could this be true? Are we twins? Check out my lastest phto shoot post, I took it at Home Depot, Fallschurch. Anyway, man my wife was rear ended 45 days ago, and the other guys insurance company seemed to have lost contact with the guy that hit us. They say they can't no do anything until they have contacted him and have him authorized to go a head with the case. I contacted my agent they scared me by I have to wait or they can pay but it would effect my premium and the worst thing is my $500 deductible. Man, how in the world would his insurance has to get his authorization to go ahead with the case. Its all his fault. I am really pissed but on the other hand i have to wait since I don't want to pay anything. Anyway, GO SIENA RED.
