"similar values and opinions"???? Not even close. It WAS the "moral" vote that killed the liberals last election. Conservatives have a HUGE difference of opinion when it comes to abortion, same-sex marriage, gun rights, strong defense etc. So no, I don't know where you're coming up with "both make their decisions based on a different set of facts." People make their decision on where they want this country to go, what they want in a leader for this country, and what he believes in. The FACT is liberals want what the conservatives don't, that's why you lost the white house again. It's NOT because they are given different facts. Where do you come up with this stuff? Wait, let me guess...some liberal newsletter?

Indeed, the problem is not the people in power but the system. If you did a total wipe of Washington -- meaning get rid of everyone and put all new people there, it would only be a matter of time until things would get back to where they are today.

Yes, you're right Eric, it would eventually get back to where it is today. But, is that such a terrible thing? That's a democracy. The people will elect who they want in government even if they had to start with all new people based on the beliefs of those who run for election. This is still the greatest country in the world no matter how it seems in Washington.

You know lam, I really hope one day you fall madly in love with someone and then can't get married to them because noone recognizes it, and then you have to sit in the waiting room of a hospital because your not deemed "good enough" to be by the side of the one you love, I PRAY you feel that pain because then maybe then you'll open your frigging eyes and see the world as more then a gun-toting-bush loving place and as something that matters, then I just may be proud of you, until then, I'll feel sorry for you!

That's right...you do not believe in polls. But yes, when they take polls that is indeed the result.

An example of this is the war in Iraq. Polls show that more than half of those who currently support the Iraq war also believe Saddam Hussein was responsible for the 9/11 attacks, and more than 75% believe WMDs were found in Iraq, where as less than 5% of those who are currently against the war believe either of those two things.

Another example is welfare and its relation to taxes. When polled, most of those who are against welfare think that the amount of money spent on it is much higher than it actually is. When told what percentage of their taxes actually pays for welfare, the percentage of people against welfare drops by more than half.

Another example is the military. When polled, most people who think we need to increase the military budget think there are many other countries who spend more than we do. When told that we actually spend more than 8 times any other country, the number of people who still think we should increase the military drops to less than 10% of the original number.

Another example is stem cell research. When polled, most people who are against using embryonic stem cells in research are unaware that thousands of embryonic stem cells are discarded (i.e. killed) by fertillity clinics each year. When told this, the number of people against embryonic stem cell research dramatically drops.

I could go on and on. But what this shows is that people form their opinions on facts, or what they believe to be the facts. Many opinions are formed on incorrect assumptions or lack of knowledge of the facts. When given the same facts, most people have the same opinions.

And yes, abortion and same-sex marriage are issues that are different in that people's opinions have nothing to do with "facts" but more to do with religious faith. But I am talking about issues such as the ones I stated above, such as foreign policy, budget issues, etc.

You'll never stop ranting, who you kidding eh? Sorry though, if I do fall in love with someone it will be someone I can marry. Let's say though, I was just engaged to a girl, would they let me go to the hospital room even if we're not married? Probably not. Why would you PRAY I feel that pain. That's not nice. I'm willing to shoot your coyote and you'd be that mean? What the hell, have a bad day? 130 MORE WEEKS!!!
