I had my first flat tire ever tonight..

I got my first flat tire tonight ever.. Unfortunately, it was on a Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 that I had installed LAST WEEK. I was driving through the town of Bedford.. It was raining pretty hard and all of a sudden there was this loud WHAM! I've hit some potholes before, but this was huge. It didn't feel like there was anything wrong, so I just kept going. I got onto the Everett Turnpike to go to Nashua, about 10-15min south. The car felt strange. The handling felt a little sloppy, and got progressively worse, and the car was shaking a little. It almost felt like what happens if you're driving a car with no ABS and you get a flat spot on the tire. I assumed there was something wrong with the suspension (Which was just fixed on Saturday, at a cost of $1300.. No more warranty ). I got off the highway and went to a well-lit parking lot in an area that I knew (the Nashua high school) and got out of the car.. My passenger's side rear tire was completely flat. So I had the fun experience of changing my tire in the dark, when it was about 42 degrees and pouring rain. I got soaked cause I had to kneel in puddles and stuff. It wasn't so bad though. I could have been in an unknown area.. I'm glad it was a slow leak, and not a violent blowout, especially if it had happened on the highway... Unfortunately, I'll probably have to buy a whole new rim. It's pretty badly bent.

In the words of Cheech and Chong "WOW, what a bummer man!"

Does your 330xi not have a tire pressure monitor of some sort? I'm not familiar with that year/model. Anyway, gald it happened in a known location. That "wham" you heard might have dinged the rim causing the tire to lose air. Bad luck but glad you're OK!

That sucks CJ. At least you know how to change a tire.

I've had several flat tires. The worst one was while driving to Arizona in the summer and having to change a tire on the extremely hot pavement in the sun.

Damn!, sucks to bend a rim

I've had my liscence for about 2 years now and I've had 5 flat tires between my two cars, but thats mainly because I frequent the industrial estates (for hobby and work stuff) where there is more debris on the road than usual

The worst one happened about 5 miniuts after I cashed in a load of aluminium and bronze scrap at a local scrap dealer (about $100 worth), I was driving out of the industrial estate when my front left tire deflated rather rapidly from a thick piece of stainless steel swarf through the sidewall , the car (BMW 735i) pulled like mad and scared the crap out of me. It was a 35* day and after I was done at the tire shop (near new Michie' fitted and balanced) I hat just enough money left over from the scrap metal to buy a pack of icy cold Scotch&Coke , so I guess it worked out even that day

Mine is a 2003... 01/03 production. I think thatthe TPMS was introduced later in 2003 or in 2004.
