Really? I've never had Applecare and never needed it either...

Of the past 5 mac laptops I've had I guess I've been rather lucky... Then again I am tech savy, so perhaps if your not you should consider buying Applecare.

I got an imac and macbook in January 07.

As long as you are still covered by the original one year warranty you can upgrade to Applecare. Once your 1 year warranty expires though you can no longer upgrade to applecare...

you should wait. the new operating system for apple is coming out very soon and there is a rumor of a faster processor too

Your absolutely right...

The problem isn't that I'm not tech savy (I am) but it is that I got a Lemon computer...In the first year, I have had over $900 worth of repars that were covered under the 1 yr warranty. I think I'm going to get a MacBook in August.

I would suggest, if you have the $, to get the 2.0 GHz version. When the Macbook was updated, the 2.0 got most benefit from it. It also has a DVD burner, which is helpful for backing up data. Make sure to wait until Leopard comes out if you do decide to buy.

5.2 pounds isn't bad at all.

- Ok, it says Leopard is coming Spring 2007. Please let me know if you find a tighter timeline.
- What is Apples "Boot Camp"?
- Parallels are not listed in the options list, so I assume I will have to get it at the Apple store? Is Parallels all I need to run win Xp an OS X?

I will wait for Leopard then. Just found this on Mac rumors:

I've heard April...but I'm not sure
BootCamp is Apple's free way to get XP. You need a Windows disc though.
You can buy Parallels at the apple store or download & buy online.
