Seriously right? Its such a a pain to not only remove the oil filter when i have to change it, but then, re-install a new oil filter that is partially filled with oil.
For those of you who haven't had the fun of doing an oil change on the slightly older (90-97) Honda motors, the oil filter is basically located in the middle of the back of the block. Remember that these are I4 engines, mounted opposite of how I6 are in the BMWs.

Remember that the older Honda engines, esp theNSX, pioneered a lot of new automotive technology:
-Variable Valve Timing -Variable Length Intake Manifold -FRM cylinder sleeves: Fiber Reinforced Material= allowed much thinner sleeves allowing less space between cylinders= smaller block= less weight, etc -First all aluinum body/frame in a production vehicle In terms of Preludes, its not uncommon to see h22's making 400+w hp, 350w lbstq. Honda cylinder heads flow unbelievably, very efficient. Remember that the NSX debut'ed in 91 and the Prelude with the h22 in 92(93 in US). Stock Prelude puts out 200hp,160lbs. Not bad for a NA 4cyl made in 92 huh? |

few corrections there though.. don't think Honda pioneered the Variable valve timing/butterfly vavle opening additional path to the manifold concept as many other companies including Toyota with VVTL Treunos, Ferrari, Mitsu with the Evo 1, and even BMW with VANOS concepts all had done it around the same time... and of course, 1 caveat... your 400hp H22's are of course either 1) running NOS, 2) turbo'ed/sc'ed 3) highly built motors running standalone computers such as the DFI's, motecs, or haltechs...
not knocking on hondas as I have toyed around many moons ago (way before your time) having had a built B18C turbo'ed and NOS'ed CRX. Quote:

- Officially, the NSX was the first vehicle to be produced with variable valve+lift timing.
- h22s putting down 400whp is turboed, at 11psi. My bad for forgetting that part. This is on pump gas, w/o nos. Most of these Hondas use Hondata, its a piggyback system like a vafc. the standalone options are like aem ems, crome, etc, but ones like the EMS are easily 1k+ even if you get a good deal, and that doesnt include tuning+dyno time. - I should mention that Honda motors were meant to be NA. One example, rather unusual is an h22 powered 4 door accord, slightly bored and stroked to 2.4L running 12.5's. Full interior. People put stock h22s in the civics and run 13s all day.
