Actually, I believe Israel has a higher average standard of living than does the United States, and a higher Median family income as well.

I just find it strange that you don't mind your tax money going to pay for Israelis to have free health care, but you are so against your tax money going to pay for health care for your own fellow Americans.

- I'm all for health reform.
And the US gives a ton of money to lots of other countries besides Israel.

Secondly, assuming your right, that Israeli's have a higher standard of living and a higher average median family income, - I'm a little surprised that you would use that as evidence for your support to end financial aid to Israel.
1) They are our closest ally in the M.E.
2) They have a higher standard of living and median family income because, Jews have ALWAYS stressed the importance of education and career in the household. - This has ALWAYS been the factor that has helped our culture survive from slavery to Inquistions, from holocaust to the desired destruction of the state of Israel. From the repeated Pogrom's around the world. -

Do you forget that the US and almost every other EU country including Britin, France, Poland, Germany, Russia, etc. - after the holocaust, left concentration camp survivors in camps because they would not take them as citizens. - That the country of Israel was formed because no one knew what else to do with the "survivors" who were routinely killed, after the holocaust, when they tried to return to their home villages.

Do you forget that a 2 state system was introduced in 1947 and the Palestanians rejected it and refused to negotiate?

Do you forget that Israel occupied areas that the Palestanians rejected, only after Lebanon, Egypt, Iraw, Syria attacked Israel?

Do you forget during the Desert Storm, when Saddam Hussein and the Iraq army launched Scud Missles at Israel, who had absouletely nothing to do with the conflict?

Do you forget that, any and all of the leaders of the Palestanian people, refuse to accept Israel as a state?

Good Lord, totally subjective. I'm sure you can throw up stats and wiki's that support your claims...but until you personally go to Israel, get injured, go to the hospital and are cured for FREE then return to the US have the same injury and are not helped......it really isn't worth discussion.

No, I don't have a problem with my tax money going to that. I have more of an issue to my tax money going to countries like China. We give countries bulk loads of cash, that's fine, at least Israel actually does..ah...things for us.

Well, yeah if the government insists on having no federal money spent on such research. This is not a change you can make inside a vacuum and leave everything else the same. It would require major change all around.

You want to put all the power in the govt. to pick what items of HC are worth going after and which are not?

As I said to Eric before: for someone that claims to hate the government's various components, I'm amazed that he'd want them in charge of his healthcare and research. Simply hypocri... I mean amazing.

i used to be a couch football coach, now i think i will be the weblog politician too since reading your posts. very good info. but i dont even know where to start when it comes to politics. either way, i still pay my taxes. good job discussing yall.

And Eric,

Just to be further clear. I do not, not for one second, think that Israel is above reproach.
They do a lot of horrible things to the Palestanians. I wish sometimes that Israel could take back some of the things it has done, in an effort to protect itself.
But until you live in a place that is surrounded by hostile enemies that (for the most part) want nothing more than your total destruction, I don't think it's right to try to insinuate that the reason there is not 2 states is because of the policies of the US or Israel.

Do you also forget Eric, that since YOU are Jewish, Israel will openly accept you as a citizen, at any time.. And even give you money to come and be a citizen.
And will extend their health care to you, an American/Israeli..

I know your not religious.. And neither am I.. But if and when they day does come that your Jewish ass is "transfered, moved, "relocated" Guess which country is going to be the only one that will welcome you with open arms. - It will be the country whose people I would like to think, you have helped support.
