Actually what is worse, is when I saw TAPES being sold in a gas station for 2 for $10! I feel thats $9.50 too much.

And you should see the RIAA office here...amazing! I guess this is how they pay for it. But they do throw some good parties I must say.

if you don't like the price of something, it's not legal to steal it in protest. If you were the artist instead of the thief you'ld have a different perspective.

"I don't like the price of that new BMW, i'll just steal it, BMW makes enough money..."

I don't have the energy to describe once again how the process works, but a CD costs significantly more than the materials used to manufacture it. Also, CD's wouldn't cost so much if people weren't stealing music.

You all realize this, it's nothing new to you. But because you *can* steal it without much fear of consequence, you cry about the price as the justification. It's very simple psychiatry.

Flame suit on.

The comparison again doesn't make sense, IMO.

You can't copy to your iPod a cd you purchased. Where exactly did you "steal" anything?

I guess if you bought a BMW, then wanted to sell it privately and linked to BMW's site to give the specs on the car...would that be "stealing" from BMW?

I was talking in general, not specifically to the topic of ripping to a computer or ipod... sorry for confusion.

Two different examples. When you bought you BMW you got the title. Simple. Use it, sell it, trade it, it is your property.

When you bought the CD you didn't get title to the music, you got a license to listen to it. That license doesn't give you the right to copy it. Same situation as computer software, which is a better example than the BMW.
