What Other Car Are/Will You Be Considering?

I'm staring to act like CJ, but I just had this thought...

We don't have a large family, and we certainly do not need an SUV, let alone two (My X5 and the CEO's X3). The ONLY reason we bought the X5 in '03 was to take advantage of Section 179 tax break (no longer available, by the way). I traded in my C-class and bought the X5. When taking the tax cut into account, we got an incredible deal. Now, without a doubt, the X5 is the best car I've ever had -- bar none!!

HAVING SAID THAT....

I love the PCar Boxster. I also love the C6 'Vette. My wife loves the MLB SLK. And, oh yeah, I still think very highly of the C-Class. (I LOVED that car. Not the performance of a 3-Series, but the luxury and quality are unmatched, in my opinion.)

So... I know many of you have second and third "daily drivers." My question is, when it's time to trade in or give up your X5 (for whatever reason), will you buy another X5, even if you don't "need" it? Or, what else would/will you consider buying?

Also... if you did sell the X and bought something else... will you still hang around here on X5World?

Juan

I'm going to look at the E90 M3 when it's out.

AFAIK, those of us who took the 179 deduction need to keep the X5 for five years unless we want to give some money back to Uncle Sam. That will be about right for me if the M3 works out... it will have been in production for about two years. Of course, those of you who are familiar with my posts know I kept my E30 325i for fifteen years...

Yup! You're right. I don't plan to get rid of my X any time soon... well, at least 15 months (when my Section 179 deduction comes to an end), and even then, I will certainly consider the new X5 -- that is, of course, if it does not get "bangled" too badly! Every time I see that Boxster, though...

We'll see.

As much fun as it is to drive the benchmark small sports sedan (330xi, for those of you who are too lazy to read my sig, posts, etc.) I really miss having the X5. I liked almost everything about it better. The ONLY things I like better about the 330xi are the manual transmission and the gas mileage. Other than that, I liked the X5 much better. So, in a few years' time, I'm going to look for a bigger car. It's tough fitting three friends in the car with me sometimes, because the back seat is tiny. You could seat 5 people in the X5 with no real problems. Also, the trunk is pretty darn small! I think an E60 545i 6-speed would be fun ... Depending on WHEN I get my next car (Probably not for another 2 or 3 years) I might look at another X5... I wouldn't want one that's too old (if I got a used E53), and I'm not so sure about the looks of the new one, from the spy shots I've seen. I also like the new Land Rover LR3 and the Audi Q7, and I think the Mercedes ML500 is very appealing. I think it looks nice, and I've read good reviews.

I bought a Cadillac CTS-V, because I was tired of waiting for the M5 to come out. Of course, I needed back seats, and seating for 5. If you don't need that, it opens up a lot of other worlds to you that aren't available to me.

Of course, now I miss the haul space of the X. My wife has an Escalade ESV, but it's a family truckster, so I can't get that dirty hauling my stuff around.

ps - I would, and do, still hang around occasionally. I spend more time on the Sea Ray website of late, because I'm having a myriad of fix-it proejcts on the boat to deal with. But, the people are cool over here, and it's nice to see how everyone's doing.

Yeah, I've noticed you don't post here that often anymore. I still visit seayray owners occasionally, but hang out mostly here.

our X5 was a couple cars ago already... My wife replaced it with the S4 Avant... We don't really NEED a X5 but it was nice for the home depot/lowe's runs.

After driving back to back my neighbor's 360 CS and another neighbor's Gallardo, I think one of those will be my next... (would like to have a 430 but will not pay up the ass for it so that will not happen anytime soon...)
