When i said Specify "high cost of living" i meant taking everything into account. Real estate in California these days depending on where you decide to invest can be a bargain.

But if your considering the move based solely on the high cost of living; in my mind you may be ignoring a long list of other very important factors.

Lower Real estate prices in and of themselves don't provide the basis for a happy family life.

So it may be better if you and your family sit down and decide where you want to put down roots. Figure out what it is you expect in a living environment. (Example) Will you be happy living next door to Ma and Pa kettle?

Consider the cost is the appropriate measure to take and that in my mind means much more than the economic picture.

A guy who bought a 700K house few years ago has realized that it is now valued at $500K and he owes more than the value is just an example of how bad it has become. When i look at other houses in other states that looks identical and sometimes even better than CA houses, and yet they pay a lot less on their mortgage and property taxes, it makes me envy them.

I heard monkey junction (?) in SC or NC is a pretty good area. I wonder about the employment section....
