If you wanna do this right way, take into consideration that $ value i low, very low.
If i take 10 year perspective our gas price here has dubbeld. if i se price of dolar over the 10 years it has been almost cut to half, so if i look att my gasprice in $ 10years ago it woud be around $2,31 for US galon, today we are paying around $8 for US gallon

It is the low us $ value that makes our gas price look higher than it is, if i used dolar value 10 years ago todays gas price would be $4,62

Well i almost dont make any sence to me so i hope you get this one

Haha, sorry man. It doesn't work, just rationalizing number facts are facts...the US has seen a huge price spike in the last 5 years, very few other major countries have seen that....

Picked by those damn pesky illegals we all want sent "home", , delivered to a packing
house by trucks that burn diesel, washed, packed, delivered to a food broker or three along
the way, delivered to your school, (all those deliveries are by diesel burning trucks), and
served by people making something above the min wage.

What do you think milk or that salad ought to "cost" you?
In the very same town, off campus, I can get a salad at any fast food place that costs $3.69 (+ 9% tax). And is better quality. And has more ingredients (cucumbers, more tomatoes, bacon). It costs me more to eat on campus than off. However, since the "meal dollars" have already been paid, I have to use them up in the next month or so.

I suggest that if you really want to do this the right way, we look at fuel cost in terms of earning power. Nobody buys fuel with % changes of GBP or $, we buy them with actual GBP and $, or whatever local currency applies. So, price increase in a specific currency dfoes makes more sense than %.

But the real impact is as a share of our earnings, so if fuel went up 2x, and so did salaries, I don't see the issue. Interesting, but not worth commenting on any more than the price of, oh, say, salads

Maybe one thing we can agree on first is that it is going to continue to rise. And, the US may move more towards a world price, whatever that price is.

ugh, 3.51 for 93 in Portland, ME from BloodOil,inc. (Exxon)
Funny, the Irving across town sells 91 for the same price.

Diesel's still $4.21/gallon. good for the buyers of the "Xdrive35d" this fall as far as negotiation power.

As for lifestyle changes, we hangared the Touareg except for rare occasions and are using the camp car (last of the true volvo's '95 960) for commuting, and the 325 is getting used for ski trips more often rather than the VW. I'm not complaining.

Anyway they day will come when oil reserves all dry up and then the world economy’s will be a very different story.
What do you mean by overcrowded? In NYC, the subway during rush hour means no seats and sometimes waiting for the next train. In Japan, they have people designated to physically shove people in the doors.
