Glad to hear there nothing too serious resulted from the accident to the car or driver.

I agree with mrkbbd, unless you guys have actually met alpac's daughter, which I doubt, drawing any kind of conclusion about whether she'll "learn her lesson" is very presumptuous of you.

Alpac never said one way or the other about what happend to his daughter regarding the accident. And nobody's busting Alpac's his chops about his way of handling it. I believe most folks are just re-acting to the accident and the repercussions that perhaps their young folks would have to face after rear ending someone...............

You are right - accidents do happen and it would be good to give her a break. I wouldn't make her feel like dirt or that she is a bad person - she is still loved. However....

I still think there have to be consequences, her dad has a huge amount of work ahead of him and cost.

He started off by " Well, she crashed it last Friday" along with a mad face. Not unfortunately someone hit her.I feel for him actually.... seems like he is taking the brunt of this and if his daughter isn't then there is a heightend probably this type of thing will repeat itself.

I hope your daughter is alright.

If she is paying for the parts and helping you with the job, I am sure she is learning. You must have great skills to be able to do this your self.

Accidents happen fix the car and move on, don't let it ruin your relationship with your daughter.

how about payment plan if she can't afford it? how would you react if you hear something like this "sorry dad, can i skip this month payment, my income from working at the restaurant is just enough to pay for my books, i will pay you double next month". in fact she has to learn to face the consequences but not nessarily she has to do it now since she has school to worry about too. collision and comprehensive insurance for teenagers is a must.

Allow me to give another point of view..

I say you fix all the damage, replace the parts, give your daughter a kiss on the forehead and teach her the oldest lesson in life, "shit happens"...

After all, she's in college, working to get good grades and spending her spare time trying to make some bucks to keep her head a float.

I was in a couple small accidents when I was young and my dads philosophy was, accidents happen and he didn't want me to worry about it. As long as I wasn't being blatantly stupid: drunk driving, driving reckless, etc. He was always just happy I wasn't hurt and took care of it. He didn't want me burdened while I was struggling to make grades, etc.

So while I understand you trying to instill a sense of value into your daughter, I say, give the kid a break. If she wasn't in college or didn't seem to have any sense of responsibility I would argue differently...

Pay for it all, tell your daughter you want nothing less than a B on her report card for the next semester and move on...

B

The only part that will take time is installing a new radiator support, the rest is just hanging parts. Check Pelican they have all the body panels available.

You can send the panels to the body shop to paint and do the other work at the same time. I have done one similar and if the chassis rails are not tweaked I think you will fly thru that job.

Glad the daughter is OK and go easy on her, we all have a first accident.
