Lamborghini Countach
In general I don't get Lamborghinis. Do people just buy them for the gawdiness? They haven't become good drivers' car until Audi took over, haven't really ever seriously participated in motorsport (nothing consistent), etc. Basically, I don't understand why anyone would buy one over a Ferrari. What's the driving force behind this company and their cars. Anyone is welcome to shed some light. ![]()

None for me on that particular model. Countach, mid 80's? The newer models look good but I've never driven one so can't comment from that perspective.

Those things were HOTin the 80's.
It's a generational thing.

My dream car as a child. yes, in the 80's I had that poster on my wall
![]() if it came out today I would indeed think it was ridiculous but there's still something very iconic about it to me. can't explain. |

There is a local cruz on Sunday mornings near me. On a few occasions, one of these showed up with a really wilde paint job.
It was a light shade of purple with dolphins painted on it with some other wilde designs - white interior. |

I can see an 80's rock star getting out with white leather jacket and pants with long blond hair.

Some people buy cars because they are flashy.

Dude, that car was absolutely brilliant in the 1980's. It had massive top end and was one of the first 200mph, street legal "Supercars".
Just watch this to try to understand what that car meant to the X Generation: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wFB6FfaNQ40 Also the first car to have doors that did anything that opened horizontal. It was "new".. And the Ferrari of the day was the 308 or 328, Magnum P.I. car which had cache, but the Countache turn heads everywhere.. And was fast as hell for that generation.. Also think about it's competition back then?? Porsche Turbo, Corvette (80's corvette's were horrendous) It was in a class by itself when there were only a small handful of "supercars." Today you have lots of fast 200 mph cars... Not back then. Americans only knew how to make torque monster muscle. The Germans were underpowered but great autobahn, handling and braking cars.. And then Ferrari which was all over the place.. The Lambo Countache was the start of it all. Followed shortly thereafter by the Testarossa.
