I think what some Mac users get frustrated with
watching the so called average Windows user go
thru what MD is experiencing.

In reality though even some average
Mac users are not that up to speed with
their machines either.

However when we hear some say what MD says..........

I don't know how the "average" idiot can even keep his box & systems
running. It seems it gets more complex by the day, and I really work at
staying slightly savvy and running a clean machine.

Mac Users know this kind of stuff just isn't an issue
and we wonder why people continue to put up with it.
So we feel compelled to jump in and help.

You'll have to define "help".... telling someone to "get a mac" isn't help when someone is trying to fix a problem, it's just annoying.

I do agree that Windows has issues, but if every time someone posted on here that they had a problem with their X5, and someone responded with buy a different brand of SUV, you'ld be just as annoyed.

Why is it that every time a PC user posts a problem mac users chime the "mine is bigger than yours" tune?
I like to know my computer inside and out. If there is a problem(hardware or software) I want the ability fix myself right away and not take to store or call some one.

Just a couple of observations from your posts..... I have moved away from Norton to Kaspersky Antivirus. I have noticed a cleaner running and better detection rate of intrusive trojans. I now have my whole office running it and we do not experience the issues of workstations slowing down that we had previously. We also seem to have no viruses anymore.

Re the error message, it was a bug that can be fixed a number of ways... one being remove and reinstall, the other being..

You should have only 4 folders in your (Real) app data, that is located on C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Real where the Username refers to your login username. (This location works for Pre-Vista, as known as anything up to Windows XP regardless of its Service Packs.)

For Windows Vista, it is located at C:\Users\Username\App Data\Roaming\Real where Username agains, refers to your login username.

The 4 folders should be seen are Msg, RealMediaSDK , RealPlayer & rnadmin.

All other files that is not stated above in bold should be deleted.

As a dedicated PC guy myself (including all my office) I finally bought a desktop Mac two weeks ago (24" 2.4Ghz Intel Imac). I have been amazed at its' simplicity, ease of use and pre-loaded packaging. I pulled it out of the box, turned it on and after a couple of minutes it asked my for the code to my wireless network, connected itself and next minute I'm watching all the movie trailers for 09 in HD!! Quite impressed, no cables, dongles or crap whatsoever. I also bought an Appletv unit and now have all our iTunes avail on our Plasma, downloaded movies etc. Pretty cool

When you go back to Windows you see how cumbersome the method of interacting between software programs really is. That said, I know it well but I sure do wish Windows could be as simple as a Mac...

But ya gotta admit unlike you some folks don't know their computer inside and out.
For them it seems like an endless issue that never gets resolved. That being the case there are other way's to go.

From where I sit I could care less. If you have what you want thats great.
If you're having a lot of trouble with what you have then that aint so great.
If you own a piece of crap then perhaps it's time to get something new.

People around here are always complaining about stirring the pot re: Mac's this and Mac's that. Then you get someone who comes along who has no clue what they are talking about just blowing a lot of unnecessary smoke....

One the one hand you complain about Mac this and Mac that then turn around and admit to exactly what the real problem really is with windows.
So thanks for making a Mac user's case....

First of all if a person complains over and over about their machine (which BTW seems to happen a lot with Windows Machines)
then perhaps they need to get it fixed or get something new. I find it annoying that a lot of people I know continue to get bogged
down in the quagmire of PC nightmares. This week alone a half a dozen people complained about they PC problems and not once
did I tell them to "get a Mac".

At this point though, I believe people respond with the "GET A MAC" comeback because they
know for sure it will annoy all the so called IT pro's around here........
