Actually, I wish I could just talk to you guys to try and understand better what is happening there, from your educated and experienced point of view. I don't read op/ed pieces, I read facts, as many as I can, and form my own opinions, that is my job, after all. I have been watching BBC World news each morning to keep up with it, but it's only an hour long show, with the whole world to cover. Too bad we don't have more interest from the average American about what goes on in the world beyond our borders.

I don't think you understood what i meant, first of all I never said that they were young muslim that were new immigrants, actually I said the opposite, they are seldom new immigrants, they are French born and yet not accepted as such by the French, and sadly still seen as foreign and not trustworthy which is the core of the problem right now.

And one more thing tijanaw, I am not sure what you are trying to imply in your last comment, but if you have something to say just do so.

Forgive my slip, unemployment among the "young" runs in the 20% area... the fact remains it is young, muslims (some of which are immigrants, some of which are recent immigrants, some of which are second generation immigrants)... etc. do you see my point... Unforntunately, I missed the Factor this week...

It's amazing that the media fails to point that out!

Most immigrants choose to integrate and contribute their cultural beliefs to our way of life. But what happens when they choose not to integrate, or even learn the language, or they are not allowed to by the culture they have arrived in.

And what happens when their offspring have no respect for either culture?

I myself cannot understand how a person could be expecting their first child, another has 6 children, yet talk about going out and killing women and children for their religion.

I know that as a father, the thought of children getting hurt comes straight home to me when I look in on my little boy at night.

One night many years ago I had a long discussion with some close friends of Jewish and Irish descent. They both repeated the hatred for their enemies and how victimised they had been in history and felt oppressed by all those around them.

They were teengaers.

Are the young second generation immigrants being targeted (deliberately????) as ready fodder for a belief system whose radical exponents tolerate no other religion?

Angry young men just looking for a reason to go out and hurt, or die in the attempt in the misguided justification that they have been brainwashed with or some perverted sense of revenge.

Sounds a bit like what the Palestinians have been doing for generations.....

Could France be the wake up call for the next form of terrorism exported around the world?
