I'm going to take a look at that Nikon and take a spare SD card in with me to take some test pics to see how they come out.

Sorry I've been a little out of touch lately but it's nice to see all the gang here!

I don't like Canons. I am perfectly content with the Kodak brownie I have and it takes great pictures. Developing the roll is a pain though in my dark room specially when the dog keeps trying to hump my leg. I have spoilt quite a few pictures becuz of that stupid dog. I had a SONY digitial camera once and it is the best camera if you want to take pictures of nuddies using the IR.

My only complaint about Canon's p&s cameras is that Canon started using SD instead of CF. I was in the market for a Canon S500 but i'm not going to go out and buy a bunch of SD cards when I already have about 5GB of CF in my bag for my DSLR....

Size matters! I played with the SD550 at Costco and it's very nice. Solid and well made but it is thicker and heavier that then SD400. It's not something that would be a deal breaker for me. It's a great camera. I debated in my head whether to spend a little more for the SD500 but I set my limit and got the SD400.

I got a Canon case for it. They make a very nice leather one that fits the various SD cameras perfectly. It keeps the whole package compact.

I want some more pictures of the brunette flapper chick. She's purdy.

That's a good point. I went through that too. My A80 and my Minolta both use CF and having built a small collection of CF cards I was not excited about going to SD but if you want a small form factor camera, they're all SD. At one point I owned at least one device that used all of the various digital memory mediums, including the now defunct Smart Media. That is a major pain!

I got the PSC-90 case. It's a more rigid case so it holds its form better and it is easier to slide the camera in and out. Make sure you get one that fits the SD550 because the PSC-90 doesn't list the SD550 as a compatible camera. It might just be that the SD550 is too new and they haven't added it.

You can get a package like this one where you get an OEM Canon battery, case, and metal strap for under $50. The case alone costs about $25 at places like Best (Worst) Buy and Circuit City.
