Besides the white eyeball, I am very impressed with the flash - normally it blacks out everything that is out of it's range... not the LX5!
However you look at it, it's a world of difference between the two cameras. The large aperture of the LX5 is perfect for you given your shooting conditions.

Pushing the ISO to 800 and the larger apeture sure made a difference. The SD1100 pics were only at ISO 250. The exposure settings were more than 2 stops higher with your Lumix (ie. your SD1100 pics were 2 stops underexposed). That's the crap shoot of using Auto. I know it's not possible but it would have been interesting to compare pics at the same exposure.
Thanks, Ray.

Yeah... It's definitely not an apples to apples comparison, but it compares my shooting styles/modes (auto), so in this case, it's a comparison. Before I lost my Canon, I was going to RTFM/search the web/harrass my Xoutpost buddies to see how to manually set it for my conditions, but never got around to it. I know those photos could've been improved, but it's too late now.

I'm so excited to use this camera and see what it can do. There are so many things around the farm to capture.

I'm so glad I bought a 1TB external hard drive last year!

While the PQ isn't an apples to apples comparision it certainly does show that the Auto mode is much better in the Lumix. But then, that's what you would expect considering the price and age difference between the two cameras.

My sister Melissa needs to take some pictures this weekend for a school project, so she took some shots with my new camera yesterday afternoon. The camera was set on AUTO when she took it. I still need to read the manual to really see what this camera can do, but I cannot imagine see how they could get any better!! Here are some of her pictures:

No no no... style meant subjects, location, situation, etc.
