I think so, too. Especially compared to my Canon's Auto mode.

BTW - I uploaded them to my Facebook page last night, so you can check them out there.

Here's a picture I took yesterday. Again, the camera was set to "auto," so this is no where near it's capability, but pretty damn good for auto mode, imo.

I thought I played all the sports growing up...I don't recognize that one.
Maybe cheer leading?!

LOL mD! It's Rugby. I'd be very afraid for my life if one of those women heard me call them cheerleaders!

Ah, I've seen it on TV a couple times but I don't recall the pyramids,
both genders playing, and the catchy hats.
maybe I saw Austrailian Rules Football, and thought it was rugby...

I grew up skating organized hockey, playing baseball and football.
Things are different now.

Those are all females on the field in my picture.
The pyramids only happen a few times during the game.
This was only the second match I've been to and I still don't understand how it's played. I said it's like watching a foreign movie. Just when you think you've got it figured out, you realize you don't!

I played rugby for 6 years when I was much younger. It is a great sport and when one understands it, it's very exciting and is a very dynamic game with few stoppages in play, unlike football where when you're tackled the whistle blows and everyone gets off you and you start over. In rugby, when someone is tackled, the play continues and it's actually a penalty if you don't release the ball.

What the photo depicts is a probably a "line out" and a bad one at that. It's sort of the equivalent of a throw-in in soccer. That one looks like it might be something different they do for women's rubgy. We didn't have women folk playing the game back in my day. The other "set piece" that people see and find strange is the "scrum", which my wife calls a circle. That's when 16 guys huddle up, 8 from each team, and lock up, trying to push each other for territorial advantage.

Rugby is known as "a barbarians game played by gentlemen". I guess that should include "gentle women" now.

Oh and md, those "hats" are only sometimes worn by a couple of the forwards and they are to prevent ears from ripping off. Ouch.
