I think it's just okay. Jeeps have always been boring to me, even the srt8.
that first photo looks nice but the back end needs something different.
just using american suvs, i think the new explorer is more interesting than
the new jeep. it sure is more different than the old one anyway..

thats said, those two trucks could never and will never touch BMW, Mercedes,Porsche,Audi ect.
expect parts to fall off after the warranty..

FSETH, I truly believe that X5 reliability is all relative to age and mileage. I've had mine for close to seven years, 80K miles, without any major issues. I replaced the brake sensors and the cooling system recovery (expansion) tank that let go at the seam. Other than those two items the X5 has been solid. (Knock on wood!)

Probably. Many of my issues happened between 60k-100k miles. A LOT happened though. I am used to 3 series cars that have been far more reliable than our V8 SUV. I know the X5's are much more complicated, but pretty much all of my issues we have experienced so far have been mechanical, not electrical. The e53's sure aren't rated very well for reliability by any major source that I have seen though.

I wish. I had the following items replaced from about 60k-100k;

tail light
alternator
fuel pump
power steering hoses
2 sets of thrust rod bushings
radiator
expantion tank
FSR
High side service port
ihka control unit
valley pan gasket
water pump
2 window regulators
motor mounts
thermostat

Plus normal items like valve cover gaskets (twice), timing cover gaskets, vanos seals, battery.

Basically I had between about $8k to $10k in work performed over the past 3 years. Seems a little excessive. Not to mention I have started dropping oil on the garage floor a few weeks ago...again.

How does the Audi Q5 rate with reliability? It's basically an A4 with a big ass.

The more I look at it, the more I think you guys are right about hte 2011 Explorer. I have to give credit to Ford and what they have going on. The Fusion is a good looking car and has tested very well for safety. The engine in the new Taurus seems like a good power plant and then I came across this as well, the 2012 Focus. I have to say, for a small car around $20k, it doesn't look too bad on the exterior or the interior.
