Il be completely honest, i cant give you an honest answer on that. Il have to email Amsoil to find out. All i can honestly say is that i have, as well as many customers, used the euro oils without any issue even eith extended drain. You do make a very good point, but if you dont want the euro oils then use our regular stuff, you wont be dissappointed. Also read up on Amsoil P.i. its probably one of the best fuel system cleaners and highly regarded. Il find out the facts on the euro oils so i dont mislead you.

These arguments always seem to follow this circular path:

Broad assertions, then specious scientific justifications, then detailed analysis getting down into the minutiae, and then a big step back with "well I [me, my friends, my dad,, my customers] have used this for 25 years and their motor didnt stop"

anyway, certifying an oil is very expensive- this is why most boutique oils do not get certified. Not enough market to support the cert process

The real truth is simple:

Virtually ANY oil will be fine in ANY engine if changed often enough. Ive gotten hundreds of thousands of miles out of multiple engines running dino oil. Perfectly clean innards.

People WANT to mess with their cars...they are COMPELLED to do something...so they slap on BS air filters, BS "cold air intakes" and run 'super special oils" that swell their chests with pride. They spend more money on an oil filled with stabilizers, that is intended to support a 20k+ OCI, yet change it with stock intervals (or worse, never do a UOA to know if their chosen OCI is adequate)

The guys that run serial Used Oil Analyses, and really understand what is going on, recognize that any top shelf oil is fine- with virtually none significantly better than another. And if there are differences, UNLESS YOU RUN UOAs, EXTENDING THESE RESULTS TO OTHER CARS/APPLICATIONS IS IRRESPONSIBLE SALESMANSHIP.

Run UOAs with every change, track the results, adjust the OCI. Any descriptors about how the motor 'feels' is just BS.

Amsoil doesn't claim to have BMW LL certifications, they use claims like "just as good as....". Amsoil now appears to get API certifications on their standard oils, just not their most expensive oils. So the economic hardship card doesn't work. What they are doing IMO is instead promoting some mystique around a "very special oil", that if it just met the same old API standard would by definition be.....the same. They are also retaining the ability to change the blend on the fly, when they want to or need to. All of the above relate to their business model, more than the quality of the oil. And that brings us back to where this discussion started.

So BT, I don't think we are waiting to hear Amsoil's technical answer on how good their oils are. The only questions are related to their advertising.

It isn't that I don't want the Euro oils, it is just that I won't do business with a company that uses this business model. The oils may be fine, but until the claims and advertising change I won't be in a position to find out. I am sure Amsoil will do fine without me.

For fuel system cleaning I am fortunate to have local access to Chevron Techron. Highly regarded, the originator of a product class (meaning that there are now multiple similar products) and also used by BMW for those that want to buy it from their dealer with a roundel on the bottle. I think it is fair to say that it is the most highly regarded similar product. And if I buy good quality fuel that contains sufficient quantities of it or a similar chemical, I don't need to buy the additive.

I have done UOAs with Amsoil, pennzoil and mobil 1. You are absolutely right, theyre all top shelf, hogh quality oils and have had no issues with either. Ive used Mobil 1, castrol (not a fan), RP (if you want an oil thats all hype there you, least Amsoil doesnt claim youll gain HP) and Pennzoil, PP and M1 being my choice if i dont have amsoil on hand. Look use whatever your comfortable, but you really wont be dissapointed with the Amsoil, plus you can get a MANN filter and NGK plugs from the same order as well. I push my product because, yes, i make money off it. Some of which goes towards supporting this site. Im sorry if any of you have been annoyed by the advertising, il keep in the vendors forum, but sometimes our products can help certain issues. Amsoil is basically in the same league as M1 just a smaller company that focuses on making a great product and letting the dealers do all the selling.

In some cases are oils exceed in certain aspect, of course its not a genie in bottle but its still a fantastic product from a genuine American company that cares about its employees and its customers.
