I had forgot about this video! I first saw it maybe a year ago and thought it was a pretty impressive comparison, and shows how the "economy" cars are worse for the economy before you even start driving them than a normal car after 100k miles.

I can only imagine how bad for the environment the Chevy Volt is, with it being an electric car and all......

Since we all know that ///M badges add horsepower (and massive prestige!) what about a Prius with ///M badges? Or better yet, a M3 with Prius badges?

Great video. Couldn't agree more with the net summary, it's how you drive that really matters.
I'm very biased though, I think hybrids are a bunch of BS. And the Volt which is incorrectly still marketed and called an electric vehicle is also BS. Huge money for something that will NOT be good for the environment with all the old batterys. Feel good is all hybrids are about. I feel better now too. |

Everyone is entitled to an opinion, I'm not swayed. The fully electric car was proven from an experiment point of view in, I think the year 1909.

I don't see how hybrids solve this problem. It's clear that one can get a car that gets 40mpg + highway and 30 + in the city without the extra expense of a hybrid. Save the money spent on a hybrid and put it in the bank or buy oil futures. Electric and hydrogen are two potential power sources of the future. Most people buy hybrids at least partially because they want to look like they are smart and saving the planet. With so many high mileage non hybrid cars available for much less money, what are people really buying? It's a fine idea for people to spend their money how they see fit, but hybrids are not the answer when we run out of oil. Are you saying they are? Last edited by X5rolls; 02-12-2011 at 08:31 AM. |
