How many *apps* do you use on your phone
FWIW, I've had a slew of BB (even had them before they were even phones and just messaging devices), iPhone and now Android. At the end of the day, while I may be a ~power user~ on the computer, the phone I try to keep things simple. My shortlist is heavy on voice calls, text, email, calendar.. Minimal email browsing and nary on checking out Yelp if I am making lunch/dinner plans in unknown parts in town..the occasional facebook, weather checking both ios and andorid phones are jailbroken/rooted and apps on them are plentiful. I just don't use the phone as my every doo dad device. I try to free myself from being married to a phone at times ;-) Alrighty gang, so let's hear it. How many apps do you use day to day on your phone.... |

I agree with you re the phone simplicity.
I have a couple medical applications I use in my practice fairly heavily (ePocrates and Pregnancy Wheel). For non-medical apps: eWallet (encrypted storage of passwords, credit cards, freq flyer number, etc). BerryWeather (GPS-found local, as well as other locations of your choice) Pandora (music) Noah Bible by Laridian (duh...the Bible) Delta BB app (my Delta airlines account, upcoming trips, online checkin, etc) Poynt (restaurants in your GPS area, etc) Sprint Tel-Nav (GPS navigation; useful if I don't have my Garmin GPS with me)

Jessshhh, I guess I really am a low tech Luddite...
my 6 yr old Samsung has buttons for calls, volume, a contact list, and that's about it. Maybe I need to get hip. ![]() Impressed with the names of all those apps, however. I just dug around on my desk, and found my phone, under a pile of financial stuff I was working on. ![]() I think I last used my phone when I picked up the kids from the Fort Myers airport a couple of weeks ago.

I'm not much ahead of MD.
BB 9700, used almost exclusively for calls and checking email. Very occasional web site look up for a telephone number when travelling. Alarm clock and Sukoku apps that came with the phone. Many of the standard functions are turned off to reduce screen clutter. One downloaded app, for the Vancouver Canucks, showing all game schedules, scores, updates, news, etc.

Here's my list of commonly used, non-standard apps for my Droid X:
WidgetLocker - A great lock screen replacement. Tasker - A Swiss Army Knife like tool to do things such as custom buttons, alarms, car location tracking, automatic actions when connecting to particular Bluetooth devices (example: start Pandora, set the volume to medium and play when connecting to my stereo BT headset). Pandora - The popular custom radio app. IMDb - The Internet Movie Database, better than using a web broswer to search for movie info. WikiDroid - like IMDb but for Wikipedia. FreeDictionary - I haven't found a great dictionary app but this one is okay. Google Translate - for translating Google Voice - for transcribing voice mail to text and for international calls. TeslaCoil LED - a flash light using the camera's LED. And a novelty one: Instant Heart Rate Monitor - Uses the LED and camera to measure your pulse--clever! |

Download LauncherPro, then you can have as many screens as you want, custom widgets and shortcuts, resizeable widgets...and you can backup your home screens for when you need to flash your phone. I'm custom ROM'd, rooted, kernal'd, running Android apps from countless other phones. Apps2sd lets me store hundreds if not thousands of apps from my 16GB SD card, so I could go on for days w/ my apps list.
When you're ready for a huge assortment of badass apps (games, utilities, etc) shoot me a PM and I'll send you to a site I download free stuff from all the time. PS - Gameloft makes some AWESOME games for Android phones w/ killer graphics.
