Can someone with knowledge chime in on WHY the plates cost $100,000?

I can stand the painting over the lights, and the multicolors wheels... but the idiot who put that roof spoiler needs a good slap to the back of the head so that he can see straight.

The roof spoiler is atrocious!!!

I can't believe that the driver/owner can get away with painting over the lights and driving on public roads. And this is Singapore! Visited there a couple of times and one needs to be law-abiding...

Explanations about plates - I think the reason is because it's basically customized and over there is no such thing as here in USA having your favorite name on plates or anything.

For example in Russia plates means a lot,,, Plates that starts -AMP- means VIP government person is coming and he could do anything on the road , no rules apply to him basically. Rich people
Buy those plates in order not to obey rules and they don't get fought by police, because they are afraid of them

And btw In Abu dhabi there is plate with -1- And he paid something like 1billion. A lot of people take it as show off but in reality it's Status they live in.
Hope I explained

Interesting color combo on a German car.
Blue white red (bleu blanc rouge) are the
colors of the French flag.

Maybe this is a new European strategy to
stimulate their economy by marketing such
cars in Asian markets.

Perhaps Singapore plates system is like the UK. Here, you do not 'make your own plate', you either have a generic one like LT55 YGV or you buy one of the many 'private' plates from a previous owner or from the DVLA (govn. body in charge of vehicles) for a premium. The more desirable (e.g. one saying TOM or SARA) the more expensive.

As Mobilejo says, we pay for personalised plates in the UK. I think the one on my E71 was about $750US, but they can go to silly figures for those that have some special wording, especially if illegally mis-spaced.

We have strict rules on the construction of plates and you can lose your right to a plate and a fine if the cops feel aggrieved or you get spotted by the DVLA themselves. No recompense for loss of a plate either, whether by 'removal' or cloning - a growing issue here where your plate is copied onto an identical vehicle in order for that owner to avoid speeding fines or commission of crimes etc.

And that 1M is a disgrace. The owner should have it taken away and be given a life ban!
