Opinion needed: Moto Razr V3C or E815??

I'm looking to upgrade my cell phone and am a verizon wireless customer. The features I'm most interested in are:

- Bluetooth (esp. BMW compatible)
- GOOD speakerphone
- Good battery life
- not big and bulky (like to keep my cell in my pocket :p , not so much on my belt)
- Good reception

Anything else (cameras, videos, etc.) is gravy but not really imprtant to me. Any recommendations out there from users of these phone?

Or, any suggestions of alternate phones fitting my descriptions? Thanks!

In life there are always tradeoffs
E815 has a better speakerphone, camera and battery life but is bulkier obviously. In addition, the E815 is more comfortable to talk with. The RAZR is so thin that you can't rest it on your shoulder while talking, and the earpiece has to be positioned "just right" over your ear to hear properly. I have had both. I now have the E815.

I have had experience with both. The Razr is overrated compared to similar priced phones. Other than it's thin factor; the phone is just like any other Motorola phone.
The Bluetooth on these two phones are limited. They did add the 1.3 mega pixel camera onto the Verizon but still the phone doesn't have external memory. It depends really what you want to spend; the speakerphones on both are similar too. I had better reception on the E815 though. I would give the nod to the E815 but for looks the Razr. In all honesty the phones are very similar.

All and all; I would look into some Sony Ericsson phones; I have a the SE K750 right now and I have had plenty of experience with there phones and let me say; you get full Bluetooth capabilities. External memories; the speakerphone is the best possible in my opinion. Check Mobile9.com, the people are not as friendly as they are here but good information.

Good information from everyone. I tried both these phones and kept the Razr. My requirements were exactly the same as yours, however, I gave more importance to the size than most folks. I like a cell phone that slips into my suit or pants pocket - and the Razr is so slim and weighs so little.

BTW, I absolutely love bluetooth. I sit in my car without the need to take my cell phone out of my pocket - and it automatically synchs up with the X5. When you get a call it automatically mutes the radio - and you can answer it with a button tap on the steering wheel. This feature alone has made made talking on the phone both much easier and safer in the X5.

Good luck with whatever you decide on.

However, SuperGreg never used the V3c (Verizon's version of the RAZR). He still had cingular which has the worse cell service at his neck of the woods. SG is right that the E815 has better battery life, but then again, the RAZR is so KEWL looking....Both will Bluetooth Pair with BMWs.

My understanding from the sales rep is that the e815 has additional external memory capabilities. Anyone?

My wife just got an E815 from Verizon. She had a V710 that they took back. The E815 is okay. I really resent how Verizon has locked up their phones so that you can't do anything to them even if it's just uploading pictures or ringtones. There are ways around it but it's at the risk of frying your phone. I'm not skilled enough in the art of cellphone hacking to try.

The E815 is pretty good but if it's like the V710, the battery does not last long. The battery in my wife's V710 stop taking a charge despite taking care of it. The software on the E815 is better than the Razr because it has better voice dialing options like digit dialing and voice tags for all entries. It sounds like you should get the Razr based purely on your desire to have a slim phone. That is the number one selling point for me. I have the Razr and like it's form factor the best.

The Verizon RAZR has OBEX enabled via bluetooth. The RAZR syncs quicker my X too. However, there are "modifications" that you can do to the 815 that will enable additional bluetooth features.
