Talking Keep Left Lane Dwadlers off the road!!

Doesn't it annoy you that people go real slow in the left lane (passing lane) and then back up traffic? At least there is hope in Colorado.

I am with you, man. It drives me absolutely bananas! I wish ALL states would do the same.

Yes... I'm usually in the left lane but if I'm not actually passing anyone I get over... Even if they want to drive in the left lane they could at least have the f-ing courtesy to move over momentarily to let others pass... I know of people who drive in the left lane cause they think it's cool to hang out there.. Maybe if they want someone to go road-rage on their asss..

You're preaching to the Choir, man. I basically learned how to drive in Germany. I had had my license less than two years by the time I went there, and then drove in that country for more than six years. I know all about how to properly drive on the left lane. That's just something we don't hammer here int he US, though. People think the left lane is a cruising lane; The left lane is a passing lane. (You may cruise so long as no one is behind you trying to pass you.) It absolutely ticks me off to see people cruise in the left lane at 60 MPH... with the right or middle lane completely open!! What's worse, after being on their tail for two or three miles and their not moving, they give you a nasty look when you pass them on the right!!

One area in which the Europeans are definitely superior is driving, at least in some areas. The laws, in Germany for example, are strict but they make great sense. Also, I was researching speed limits in European countries this afternoon for something in Spanish class... Austria, Croatia, France, Germany (parts), Italy, and Poland all have speed limits that are the equivalent of 81 mph... Others have speed limits of 74 or 78 mph, among others... It drives me nuts how slow the limits are here... They are just so the police can make money. I think that speeding tickets are a huge waste of time... The police depend on them for a lot of income so they are out there sitting on the median waiting for someone to go buy slightly over the limit so they can go get some money... Why aren't they out STOPPING CRIME! Speeding is so minor, in the scheme of things. Ideally, they should raise the limit to something like 80-85, so people would actually follow it... 80 seems to be the going rate of speed around here. Another rule, more to the point of this thread, that I think is in effect in Germany is Drive Right, Pass Left... That would be so nice... I try to avoid passing on the right, but it would be easier if these people didn't take it upon themselves to enforce the f-ing speed limit!

I've driven is most western European countries, and let me tell you, those speed limits are VERY loosely enforced -- especially in Germany, Italy, and Austria.

Often police is more concerned about folks not giving enough distance to the car in front of them (there have been several incidents with folks who've caused major accidents with loss of lifes pushing slower cars almost off the Autobahn). However speed limits are enforced and depending on the country you'll incure a hefty fine (anything 25km/h above the posted speed limit in Germany will most likely cost you your driving license for at least a month).
The good news is that driving in the left hand lane is prohibited and illegal except for passing

I agree that we really should raise the speed limit to match what cars are now safely capable of handling. 80ish or so...but the problem is that there are still many many crappy drivers out there...well atleast over here in LA. Majority of drivers hear drive me up the wall. When ever people do stupid stuff or drive too slow and get in the way, I can automatically feel my blood pressure bursting. OHHHH....AND ESPECIALLY THOSE DRIVERS WHO DRIVE TOO DAM SLOW AND WHEN YOU TRY TO PASS THEM, THEY SPEED UP SO THAT YOU CAN'T GET IN...ONLY THEN TO SLOW BACK DOWN AGAIN!!! ARGHHH!!!!
ARGHH!!!! MAD ROAD-RAGE!!!
